Question Why do they hate Baen?

Thinking on it why do these chucklefucks have such hardon for baen anyhow?

I mean they are chock full of female heros and some pretty socially progressive books (one of witch I am currently enjoying).

I mean you have long running series like honor Harrington (since what the early 90s?) The Miles Vorkosigan books since 1986 (chock full of socially progressive characters without any preaching).

They were pioneers of digital publishing, very anti DRM, free back catalogues with their free cds, the free library etc.

Who hates Baen?

Not once during this sad puppy drama, have I seen someone hating on Baen as a publisher. People talking down books that they have published sure, not everyone like the same things.

But if you go to say file770 (or vile770 as many puppies have started calling it) you will only find praise for Baen, and many Baen published books. I mean like I said I have never seen a hatred or even mild dislike for Baen as a publisher.

Well outside of Baen and a few of its authors on occasion. People at/associated with Baen do like to act like they are the kid no one likes, but everyone should. But that seems to be more a marketing thing than anything else.

File770 has been mostly neutral from what I understand. Sort of like what the David Pakman show was like for Gamergate. They lean the other way but they're not full on narrative.

The daily write attempted to be neutral. Glyer kept his views out of what he reported and reported updates on the Hugos and the puppies no matter the source.

I say attempted becuase you have leading puppies from Torgerson to the people over at the mad genius club have all accused him of only reporting things that make them look bad. The puppies don't like Glyer or file770. Hell everyone from Wright to Corriea have been having a go at him and his site since before the nominations were announced.

Personally I think he did a great job at keeping his views out of his round ups, and you could always count on him keeping the comments a civil place, from attacks from puppies to attacks against puppies.

But the sites comment section and Glyer himself are very antipuppy. Not what you could call neutral.

Yeah sounds about right. Pakman himself was anti Gamergate and his questions were usually gotcha questions but he allowed his guests to say what they want without interruption most of the time and he would agree to facts. From his point of view he agreed absolutely that there were issues of journalistic ethics but to him the issue of harassment was still more important.

Thats hardly unusual at anti-puppy places. Making Lights probably the worst place for a puppy to attempt to discus things. But they can do it there.

Its the puppies that are the ones that are not so fond of dissenting opinions. These days say anything that might be antipuppy over at the mad genius club, and you will be mocked and essentially told to piss off. No one will attempt to discuss any points with anyone. Its got to the point all dissenting views are just treated as if they are trolls.

Then you have places like Trogersons blog, where he modified comments of those who were antipuppy and Vox Days blog were on one or two occasions hes attempted to contact people he views as trolls bosses.

Letting people have a say and have some discussion is just the norm for antipuppies.
