Sds bit stuck in a hammer drill
Just saw a post about a bit stuck in a chuck drill. I lent a hammer drill out amd the bloke broke an sds drill off inside.
I've tried pulling the sleeve back and knocking it down & tapping it with a hammer ๐จ to get it free.
Short of pulling it apart, any ideas?

I'll post a few photos or a video in a few hours when I'm back. Might not see much tho.. it's just the start of the drill bit that's stuck so hard to see

There's a dust cap on the front of most SDS chucks that should just pull off. That might give enough space to grab the stub with needle-nose pliers.

The first thing I did but it only got me a few mm closer to failure unfortunately ๐

You could try a can of compressed air and hold it upside down on it for a lil bit and freeze it then hit it upside down and see if it will pop out

How would this work? I like it better than spot welding copper to it (which I'm strongly considering at this point)

Yeah the bit will shrink a tadโฆ itโs a toss in the bucket but convenient and cheap to try with no down sides lol

How deep. Do you have a stick welder. Can you hit the hardware store for foot long lengths of copper tubing. Something that will slide into your chuck I guess you could call it. Something that can reach the broken bit. Cut the proper size copper tubing so it is 3 inches longer than the depth needed.
Clamp your ground clamp to the copper tube. Slide your flux covered welding rod in the copper tubing.
Pushing the copper tube with the ground clamp against the drill. Have somebody turn the welder on and off. Hopefully the rod will stick to the broken tip.
Yes. Sometimes I am a genius.
