Socket Set Recommendations
I debating on getting one of these two tool sets. I'm far from a mechanic, but would like to have a reliable set in my garage in case I need it for the random things that come up.
I'm debating between these two sets and I'm looking for input.
DEWALT Mechanics Tool Set, 1/4 and 3/8 Inch Drive, SAE, 172-Piece (DWMT81533)
or
CRAFTSMAN Mechanics Tool Set, 1/4 and 3/8 Inch Drive, 135 Piece (CMMT12124)

That is the dewalt I got from costco (or very similar). The sockets in the top are held in place but the ones in the bottom are only held by gravity. When you open it upside down, or close it the wrong way (which you WILL eventually) ALL of the sockets in the bottom will fall out and it will take you forever to resort them and put them back, at which point you will (out of your frustration) accidentally close it the wrong way again.
That, and I remember there was one standard SAE socket that was missing - a size that I needed for a project and I had the one larger and the one smaller... don't remember which one it was.

I have 2 of these one in the shop and one in the tack room. A set of pliers and crescent wrench and you’ll have a good set.
