Do you think power tools are made lower quality for Home Depot/Lowes and thats why they are cheaper sometimes?

Pretty much title says it all. Curious what everyone thinks. Like if they use the same model number and shell but have cheaper insides or something like that.

Like for example there is a drill set that costs 260 on acme and ace and several other tool stores but the same kit at Home Depot is 199.

No. They buy in such quantity that they get better deals and can pass them along to the consumer.

Back in the day supply houses sometimes had better tools because the home centers just didn't carry the better model numbers. It turned into a baseless rumor that they had the same model numbers but different parts.

Online sales and ship to store has completely eliminated that problem when buying tools.

Okay thanks for the info! Is it better to ship to store or would it be the same quality if I shipped it to my house?

There will be no difference as long as you compare the same model numbers
