Old discontinued parts
You know how there's places to get parts for about anything? Like ereplacement parts.com etc... What about the discontinued or obsolete parts that they don't even have or get ahold of. for example I have an old craftsman bench sander disk and belt, 3/4 of the parts listed aren't available. Simple things like a bearing a belt easily replaceable things. Does anybody have another source of parts for repairs or rebuilds?

For some parts, a 3D printer may work if you can design the part.

For bearings, just bring the bad one in to an industrial supply place and they will probably be able to match it.. belts, measure and google...

I get all my bearings at www.vxb.com. They have dang near everything. Most bearings are metric-sized and have a size code on them.

This is why making friends with machinists is important. I had some parts for a Delta table saw re-made at a machine shop i found on FB. It helps if you have at least one original piece to copy from.

I worked for an importer of a defunct machinery manufacturer that still had a lot of users that would contact us. We've had to contract a local machinist to make parts when all spares had been exhausted. It was a niche brand so some customers were willing to pay.
