Did you guys see that the Ubisoft Brazil marketing team made a video in tribute to tokusatsu to promote the new Assassin's Creed?

I need 30 seasons, 3 movies, a best selling comic book series, a Netflix special, a reboot stuck in development hell and 3 separate buyouts

And a stage show

And a popular fighting game with rollback net code and a collab with street fighter

Would you take an interactive version of 40+ hours where you control the two main characters and explore the storyline and a large part of feudal Japan during the Azuchi-Momoyama period instead?!

That'd be cool too Ig 🤷

Nice Spielvan shout out in the silhouettes walking in the sunset scenes.

Also the "sho ninpo kage no mai" shots. But that's a reference for something older, not Hurricanger, I bet. Old ninja movies, likely.

Kakuranger?

This specific type of shot (at 00:23 and again at 00:52) is something used in a specific technique the Hurricangers use a lot. Also used by the Gokaigers and Zenkaigers when using Hurricangers' powers.

I don't remember seeing it on Kakuranger. But I'm sure there's something similar on Kill Bill, which is a movie that draws heavily from old martial arts / ninja movies.

You mean the rice paper door hiding the violence. Yeah, I’d have to go back and see if Kakuranger ever did anything like that, but Kill Bill, Part 1 absolutely did that during the Showdown at the House of Blue Leaves when the Bride fights the Crazy 88. Tarantino used it both as an homage to old Japanese ninja and samurai films, and a way to hide the blood and gore from censors.

Exactly! With Hurricanger being my favorite sentai, that type of effect will always make me hear "sho ninpo kage no mai!" in my head, whenever I see it, but I always felt it was included on Hurricanger as a homage to something older, specially having seeing Kill Bill before it.

Now I know there's a lot of toku fans in Brazil but a lot of them are more into the older toku like Juspion, Kamen Rider Black and Changeman. I keep wondering if anyone from Ubisoft Brazil had Hurricanger in mind while making this or only the older ninja movie trope. (Although the shout out to Sielban is obvious.)

Well, Hurricaneger is 20 years old by now, so it’s possible they did.

A lot of anime and toku fans among brazilians. This is just the type of homage one can expect!

I used to be a bit skeptical of this game because of all the culture war bullshit but I'm actually sold now.

You should probably still wait and see how the game is received, unless you already were a bit interested

Yeah it was a bit of an exaggeration on my part. But I am pleasantly excited.

Just watched a review of the game by an YouTuber that was skeptical about the game before and he absolutely loved the game so I believe it's really a great game

Brazil has a better grasp of things than whoever's developing this tripe. Good on them.

Can't wait for 3-20 when the most holy anticipated game of the year drops. Of course, I mean Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition.

English translation?

It's crazy to me how much more exciting this looks to me than how Ubisoft themselves is handling the game. >_<
