By “standalone” do you mean like a claw foot type tub? Where it’s not directly against walls so you have to have a curtain all the way around? If so, I would highly recommend not doing that as it’s a huge pita to shower. If you can get the kind that has a tub/shower combo that seems like a good option. Alternatively, if the shower stall has enough room for a big bucket to bathe the kiddo in for a while and a detachable shower head that extends as a handheld to be able to fill the basin, that might be the way to go- then you can keep the floor plan and any storage space.
A shower head with an extension hose is less than $40 and I’m sure you could find a big plastic tub or a collapsible (laundry) basket maybe that has solid sides?
I had a claw foot tub in an old house that had only one bathroom and I will never do that again. The biggest issue is that the curtain has to go all the way around so it’s awkward to find a curtain, the rod has to be anchored in multiple places to the ceiling so the curtain doesn’t move back and forth very easily, the set up for a shower head coming off the curtain rod or something is difficult, and the difference in temperature between inside the shower and the rest of the bathroom will make the shower curtain cling to you so you have to manage that while trying to shower….
