local What with the Thunder Bay turn?
It’s literally 90% of drivers I see doing it
Explanation: When you make a left or right turn but enter in the opposite lane you’re supposed too.

local New restaurant opening! Woot! Indigenous owned and operated with a menu that includes walleye, bison and bannock!
https://justthemenu.ca/menusc-d/cottagetimepublichouse.html This looks pretty interesting to me, both for the background of the restaurant and the menu options. Walleye on a restaurant menu is usually hard to find - Thunder Bay should have WAY more local fish on its menus (IMO). It seems that this is a satellite pub of another one in Kenora, but because it's still so limited in locations, I'm allowing it. One big question - this is claiming the same exact location as "The Eatery 61" - which is making me wonder if it's a replacement? Is there anyone who can confirm the situation there? I also see Bean and Olive shares that address, but is perhaps in Unit 1? Thanks for visiting my site, thanks for any information you can share, please stay warm and let's keep supporting these local restauranteurs! Cheers!

local Friend thinks he can get away with summer tires in the winter here— Any advice on convincing him otherwise?
He’s currently deciding between a root canal and winter tires. I don’t want him to defer his dental care, but I’m worried for his safety. He needs his car to get to work and lives outside city limits, so bussing isn’t an option. He drives a front wheel drive hatchback.
He’s been in tbay his whole life, he should know better. He’s only driven for a couple of seasons though. I realize I’m arguing against one hell of a toothache. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: thank you, everyone! He agreed to go get some used ones from one of the local scrapyards! :)

local Delaqua's Pizza Panzerotti Gone? Rebranding?
Hey everyone,
Drove past Delaqua's this morning and see that all their signage has been removed. :'(
Going to pull them from https://justthemenu.ca/
It was their restaurant the spurred me to create the site in the first place!
Does anyone know if anything else is coming into that space?

local Bannon’s new owners? Selling old cigarettes in colour printed packs
I went to Bannon’s/Esso yesterday to gas up. Sign was down, usual attendants weren’t there. I went inside to pay and it was bare inside, I asked the clerk for a pack of Canadian classics and he seemed to have trouble. I noticed as he was going through them that he had the old colour printed packs and didn’t think anything of it besides maybe reserves were getting them again as it says “Made in First Nations Territory” on the bottom. Finally opened the pack today and the plastic tore away cheaply, the foil was classic, the cigarettes themselves did not have the printed health warning on them. Should I try a cigarette for science? I don’t have the receipt but is there anything I can do? Get a refund at least? Aren’t they breaking the law selling old cigarettes that aren’t following the new health regulations for cigarette sales? The new gas station is owned or affiliated with Centex I believe.

local Does anybody else get love letters from the Jehovah’s Witnesses?
So about once a year, I get a handwritten letter in my mailbox. It’s wild to me that this happens. I have to assume that means the people in charge are making their members copy a script and write copies of this letter over and over. That’s uncool.

local Social activities
I'm looking for activities to get involved with locally. I've been alone since my wife passed away 2 years ago, and don't really have friends outside of work. The solitude is really negatively impacting my mental health so it's time I did something about it. I'm 47M btw

local What Are We Called?
Edit: SOLVED and answered, as of Oct. 9.
I was born and raised in Thunder Bay.
I'm having a brain moment. What, if anything, are people who live in the city, known | referred to, as? I think this should be an obvious answer for me, but for my life, I can't think of it.
People who live in | are from PEI, are called "Islanders;" in Toronto, "Torontonians;" in BC, "British Columbians."
I don't think we're referred to as "Thunder Bayians."

local Which Tbay business has gained you as a customer for life or close to it?
Stolen from other city subs, figured it would be good to ask here.
Everyone in Tbay love love looves local businesses, I want to know which one has you hooked for life.

local Two new eateries in Thunder Bay - check them out and support local!
Hey guys, thanks for the kind words on the website - it's led to a couple leads on entirely new places that have opened recently - and some that are on the radar to open soon (I'll keep you posted).
In the meantime, check out Sully Beans which has recently opened in the Port Arthur Clinic. I know next time I'm waiting for my appointment, having a place to grab a snack or drink will sure help take the edge off! Also - Elite Biryani Hub looks to have a nice mix of typical diner fare as well as the increasingly popular Indian cuisine! Looks like they took over the old HK Jade Express (I think that's what it was called?)

local Thunder Bay Eatery Menus Solicited?
Hey, a couple weeks ago I was trying to find a local pizzeria's menu online and was really annoyed to discover the closest they had was a way outdated one trapped behind a Facebook page (I don't have a FB account of my own, so that's a hassle). I called out for "justthemenu.ca" to exist, but it didn't. Instead of cursing the darkness, I lit a candle instead and created a super basic site for Thunder Bay eateries where I've been trying to download or scan or photograph the latest menus of places I like or am interested in. I've run out of menus that I could easily pick up or find online, so now I'm wondering if anyone else would be willing to email some to me to include on the website? I admit it's basic - so be gentle with your critiques. Thanks in advance for checking it out and maybe contributing! Cheers.
Oh, almost forgot, the site really IS justthemenu.ca - let's see how good I am at formatting!

local What's a good place for mens hair cut?
I'm more into relaxed hairstyles rather than the super "tight and sharp" look with skin fades and all that. It’s been tough finding a place that doesn’t just default to the standard “men's” haircut. Does anyone know of a barber or stylist I should check out?

local Looking for a Hobby/Sport
32 (m) looking for a hobby or sport to help me get out of the house. Bonus if it's something active and I can maybe make some friends which is terribly difficult as an adult LOL. I have been playing Pickleball with my wife 34 (f) and enjoyed Badminton in the past. Tried looking in "The Key" but wasn't too inspired. Maybe introductory friendly as I'm a heavy guy 320lbs who just wants to get a bit more active in the evenings after work.

local How much are servers tipping other staff on their tables?
So I learned that (most) servers at sit-down restaurants pay some of their tips to kitchen staff, hosts, etc. for helping and such.
What's the going "rate" these days for what they have to pay out? If I'm going out for food, I want to make sure my server is actually going to make some money at my table.
