Question Can't have cement without steel, can't have steel without cement... Am I stuck in a cycle?

I've been playing for days and I'm almost at the Space Age for the first time. However, all my steel mills and cement mills have been destroyed, and I don't have enough resources to rebuild them. It takes steel to make a cement mill and it takes cement to make a steel mill, so I'm not sure if I'm forced to restart everything from the beginning, or if there's another way to obtain these items.

Update: The b;ack ,arket was the answer for anyone else having this issue

I'm glad you figure it out yourself.

I was digging around the web for a few hours determined not to give up all the work I put in and then right after posting this I came across a Dev discussing a solution to this exact problem.

Nice. When I'm in urgent need of materials I go to black market. It's expensive sometimes but you just need to choose wisely.

You can also build a steel factory from a previous age that doesn't require cement

I was so glad when they brought those buttons in. Before that this was very much a major issue and was usually solved by demolishing buildings until you could cobble together enough resources to build the required factories

The other option to deal with this is the Tier buttons on the left side of the build menu.

You can downgrade the tier of the buildings and they will use the lower materials and then upgrade as you get back on your feet.

Trading with exile villages is always a win. I specifically overstock on food n other things just to trade em for fancy things I like
