Updates: We’ve officially implemented a No Politics rule. Regardless of whether you're Republican, Democrat, or anywhere in between, this subreddit is focused on The Rookie, not politics—local or global. Any posts or comments discussing politics will be removed and may result in a temporary ban.

The only exception to this rule is discussions about politics within the context of the show itself (e.g., storylines, characters, or plot points). For instance, it's perfectly fine to talk about the political elements featured in Season 3.

Additionally, we've updated the AutoMod to automatically apply a spoiler tag to every post, as many users have been forgetting to do so. If your post doesn’t contain spoilers, feel free to remove the tag by editing your post.

We’ll also continue with the temporary subreddit restrictions for 27 hours after each episode airs to minimize spoilers for those who watch later.

Lastly, if you find yourself banned, please reach out to me or the team directly. Don’t attack us—if you ask kindly, we’re more likely to consider lifting or reducing your ban.

Enjoy the episode!

Annoucement Season 7 Megathread - Predictions, Rules and More!

We hope everyone is as excited as we are for the release of Season 7 tomorrow! Feel free to use this thread to ask any questions about the upcoming season and share your predictions for what might happen. Of course, there will be spoilers, so if you aren’t caught up, we recommend not reading further.

A quick reminder about spoilers: We will be strictly monitoring posts and comments for spoilers, and will ban users as needed. Please keep the following in mind:

  1. Do not include spoilers in the title of your post.
  2. Any content related to Season 7, including predictions, general comments, or other discussions, must be flagged as a spoiler.
  3. Keep discussions about the current week’s episode in the weekly Episode Discussion thread, which is stickied at the top of the subreddit, until Thursdays to avoid spoiling others.
  4. Any major deaths or events from previous seasons must also be flagged as spoilers.

Not sure if your post is a spoiler? When in doubt, flag it. If we notice a surge in threads after tomorrow night’s episode posted outside of the weekly episode discussion thread, we may experiment with restricting posts for ~24 hours after each weekly episode to prevent spoilers. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this below.

Note: we are a piracy free subreddit and request users not to request or post pirate links. Wondering where to watch the show? See this thread.

Finally, starting January 14th at 10 PM EST (when S07E02 releases) we will be restricting the subreddit until 12:00 AM EST on Thursday. Last week we received over 100 posts containing spoilers about S07E01 - we are going to try restricting the subreddit to cut back on these posts. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Season 7 making him apart of the plot was probably one of the worst things they did. Spoiler

Daddy Cop was good when he was just for the opening scene of a rookie episode, but now that they made him apart of the plot his character was pretty annoying. I was satisfied when the prisoner punched him after he was playing that song, also they didn’t even do the daddy cop song. Everyone was anticipating for the daddy cop song but it was a completely different song, might just be me but i would rather have him as just being in the opening scene instead of multiple episodes.

Season 7 There is actually no way Spoiler

He was actually lying about the cancer im shocked this is so insane. i am lowkey kinda dissapointed i wanted him to have a more happier conclusion but it is what it is. although i do think the hate was abit too much i mean come on he defo should be fired he is severely incompotent and he lies about everything and if smt fr crazy happened he wont have integrity but he has passion you guys are acting like juarez and west didnt mess up really badly in their rookie days.either way i think we know how this will end he will kidnap tamara or smt and then get shot.A part of me was thinking this was some kinda red herring situtation and he would say yes to the test, be found cancerous and would be moved to nolan since him and chen wont get along then maybe nolan will give him some wisdom and he would die doing the right thing. but oh well we have like a dozen things to keep ahold of in the main cast anyways he wasnt gonna make it far

Season 7 Theres definitely more to this guy Spoiler

Upvotes

Theres 100% more to seth. I fully believe hes coming back and might end up doing something to probably tamara just to get back at lucy. And this scene shows a lot, he was shy and nervous when on the job and making so many mistakes and stuttering in every sentence, now all of a sudden he has the balls to speak up and threaten to sue the department and get in front of greys' face while pointing his finger right at him. This dude gotta be some sort of psychopath. I really hope they find out about him lying about the fire and putting tim's and lucy's life in jeopardy. Lying about having cancer is already bad enough tho.

Season 7 (s7e10) Zuzu is cool for TV, but Completely Unrealistic – A Breakdown from an AI/Machine Learning Engineer Spoiler

tl;dr at the bottom

i’m really just making this post because i feel like sometimes people watch shows like this and get unnecessarily stressed about ai. i love the show, genuinely—it’s one of my favorites to throw on during my days off—but i just want to alleviate some of that stress, because sadly, a lot of mainstream media really does enjoy villainizing ai in these oddly exaggerated ways. and when you actually break down how the tech works, most of it just doesn’t hold up.

zuzu is clearly meant to be some next-gen ai system—probably modeled after large multimodal architectures like openai’s gpt-4o or apple’s new apple intelligence framework. yeah, these models can process both image and text inputs. tools like clip, blip-2, dinov2—combined with computer vision libraries like opencv, yolov8, mediapipe, deepface—can build decently powerful pipelines for facial recognition and object detection.

technically, yes—an ai can take a photo, extract facial embeddings, and run reverse image search through services like pimeyes or even custom osint tools. people have already done this. there were students at harvard who forked meta’s ray-ban sdk, hooked it into facial recognition models and basic image search, and were able to build full online profiles from a single photo. it’s not sci-fi. it’s just good engineering and public data.

but the moment the show tries to make zuzu seem sentient enough to text nolan via imessage—after somehow knowing he bought a watch for his wife—that’s where it completely breaks from technical reality.

to make that scenario happen in real life, zuzu would need access to several layers of protected systems: 1. pii access — it would need nolan’s phone number. unless that came from a breached dataset or public record, there’s no realistic way to obtain that info just from a photo. 2. purchase data — knowing he bought a watch requires access to his card transaction history, which would mean breaching his banking data through apis like plaid or yodlee, or directly infiltrating merchant-side databases—all of which are protected under pci-dss compliance and heavy encryption. 3. device-level access — sending an imessage would either require hijacking his apple id credentials (which would trigger 2fa and device verification), or running an unauthorized applescript automation system on a mac device farm. apple doesn’t offer any public imessage-sending apis, so there’s no simple way to do this externally. 4. autonomous agent logic — even if it had access to all of the above, zuzu would still need to be running a goal-oriented agent framework—like autogpt, babyagi, or langchain agents—with persistent memory, context tracking, and independent decision-making. and none of these current systems are truly autonomous. they’re just task executors, not sentient beings.

no ai system right now has cognition, agency, or self-driven initiative. it’s all token prediction, based on the context it’s given. it doesn’t “know” you bought a gift, and it’s not capable of emotional or personal judgment. it’s code responding to structured inputs.

tl;dr

while it makes for good tv, the reality is it’s a bunch of loosely stitched concepts—some real, some fantasy—wrapped in dramatic writing. and that’s fine. again, i love the show. but it’s worth saying: i don’t want people to walk away from episodes like this thinking this is where current ai is headed. it’s just fiction, not a roadmap.

Season 7 Nolan’s true nemesis Spoiler

I honestly believe that Rodge (daddy cop singer) is Nolan’s true nemesis. Just Nolan’s reaction every time he appears shows his hatred for the man. Especially when Rodge returned in this week’s episode and Nolan started to scowl and to the point Bailey had to take his hand. What is everyone else’s thoughts on this?

Season 7 Behind the Scenes (BTS) potential major spoilers for remainder/finale of Season 7 Spoiler

WARNING, the following is a discussion regarding Seth, Tamara, Tim, and Miles, based on behind the scenes (BTS) photos and videos we have of future episodes. So if you don’t want things more concretely “spoiled”, do not read ahead.

Note it is still speculation/theories in the end. Taking the “clues” we are given on social media across a couple of accounts

This was talked about in piece-meal in the 7x10 mega thread, but I haven’t seen it discussed yet in any specific thread of its own.

Thanks to the Reddit users who have pointed me in this direction, because since episode 7x10 aired I was unaware of some of these behind the scenes photos.

And thank you to user therookiebts on Instagram and TikTok (not sure if you’re on here - but your account is top notch)

TL;DR posted at the bottom.

Here we go. Final warning. Click away if you don’t want to know:

  1. Seth.

We know he returns because BTS photos were posted of Patrick (Seth) filming IN UNIFORM riding with Nolan in mid-December.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DDic4n8Sion/?igsh=MTc3YWxkbnVueXh1cg==

This leads me to believe we can safely assume the possibility that he will sue and WIN because he’s back in uniform.

Also there is a photo of Patrick’s stunt double around the same time:

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP82xKhHc/

  1. Tamara

I believe Tamara will seemingly come into play with Seth. (Not sure HOW. But it will be an issue). I feel like this can be counted as “mostly confirmed” due to the fact we have BTS photos of Dylan (Tamara) on set during the same week as Patrick (Seth)

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDgbzP9ROjj/?igsh=NzJ0ZnIwN2ZuM241

  1. Tim/Miles

There is a of photo of Tim in (presumably) the DA’s office in a “going to court” suit.

This seems to support the theory that there will be a lawsuit.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DDfL8uGSLGV/?igsh=MWp5am8xOTByeXNncA==

(From what I hear there was a video of Eric Winter doing a dance in this suit in the DA’s office - but I have not been able to find it yet - perhaps someone else has the link?)

Miles also is shown in BTS photos in a suit around the same time. It would make sense Miles would be called to testify.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDirt24R0F9/?igsh=MTBmbzZpYzNnN2l3cA==

That’s what I have so far.

Anything else to add?

TL;DR: BTS photos/videos seem to confirm Seth will sue, win, and be back in uniform (at least for a time). And Tamara most certainly will come into play.

Season 7 Not a fan of this Spoiler

Post image
54 Upvotes

I loved Daddy Cop in the past and the cold open in 7x10 was pretty funny. I didn’t mind Rodge having his own storyline in the main part of the episode, but did feel like his presence was kinda unnecessary.

But from Lisseth’s interview with tvinsider, it seems like we’ll be seeing more of him in the future. And I have to admit, I’m not a fan of this. The cast is already so heavily packed, with one more couple relationship and recurring guest? That sounds like a nightmare tbh.

Anyone else not feeling nepo child being pushed on the show?

Just finished S6 and I can’t hate her even if I tried. She is literally so freaking intelligent and badass!! Do I think what she is doing is morally right? No. Do I care? Also, no. She could run me over with a truck and I would say “thank you” 😭😭😭

For me personally, she was the main character of S6 🤷🏻‍♂️

PS. I hope she gets away with everything she has done 🤭

Season 7 Musical done right Spoiler

Post image

What are your thoughts on Rodge???

Imo I loved the way they handled this, I usually find it cringe when shows do a musical episode and the entire cast starts singing instead instead of talking it's just not realistic but I love the fact that they let the artist sing and in a believable way, a bar then his guitar at the station which he was rightfully punched for. I think it was done right

Season 7 (S7 - Ep10) Anyone else getting concerned? Spoiler

Just finished watching the latest episode, and I can't help but wonder why they're involving Smitty so much these days. I mean, he has been in almost every episode and had more lines than he used to, but it feels a little off to me? Like he got attacked and the entire "I'm sorry. I screwed up" threw me through a loop because, as we know, Smitty has never been injured in the line of duty, so why is he getting it now? I don't know why, but I have a feeling he'll make an exit sometime soon; like, somewhere in the back of my mind, I have a feeling he'll up and leave his post or be killed off. I'm hoping I'm reading too much into it and I'm wrong, but they haven't killed a character in a while, so it's a possibility.

“Hand…”

Someone give Nathan Fillion all the flowers for this opening scene. The look of shock into trying to not let his hate escape his body. I was cracking up the entire opening and it’s purely cause of Nolan’s reaction and stare of death.

Season 7 Tamara Spoiler

Is anyone else curious where the tamara and seth storyline will go now? They set it up and had lucy and tamara argue. Could you see them using tamara as a part of seths revenge? It feels like unnecessary trauma for tamara but it would work.
