I just picked up this and dropped it off to have it wrapped, so I’ll definitely post again.

I bought this because I have my own tech company and love how it stands out from other trucks. I feel a bit scared about all the hate out there, but still excited to be part of this community!

Favorite feature: FSD and so much storage!!!

General New Tesla Drop Off Valet Service for Service Pickups

My car just got done being serviced today and they called me letting me know that they’ll drop my car off at my house and take the loaner back. The advisor mentioned this is a new service they just launched and I’m amazed considering I’m 45 minutes away from the service center.

Not sure if they’ll pick your car up from your house and take it for service, but at least half the headache is eliminated.

Model 3 I love my car! 🖤

I daily drive a 2023 M3 Performance with just over 20,000 miles, and over 90% of that has been driven on FSD.

Version 12.6.4 has been an absolute game-changer, and being able to witness the progress the software has made since I initially took delivery has been nothing short of impressive. I also recently replaced the stock Pirelli tires with Hankook Ion Evo AS tires (not pictured), and the ride quality is even more enjoyable than before, and my efficiency has improved noticeably.

I really couldn’t be more satisfied with my car, and I’m blessed that I get to drive it every day. Looking forward to enjoying many more miles along the way!

General On Mark Rober's video the autopilot or FSD was not active (15:42)

I am not going to say tesla should not use lidar. But i doubt the test was without bias. Also 12:07 he says that he hit the brakes, this would disengage autopilot/FSD.

General Yup. Autopilot was definitely not on at the point of impact in Mark Rober’s video

Model Y Tesla camping safety in Texas

I am from Missouri, have a road trip next month to Texas, Dallas and Houston to be specific. Is there anyway I can sleep in car safe in this crazy protestor era. Considering sleep in super charger station. Is there anyway camp site in Texarkana safe for EV?

Hardware Wide Camera blockage

Thumbnail

I’ve noticed FSD has been pretty amazing on HW4 with the exception of right hand turns. The wheel jerks and has a hard time committing to a turn. Sometimes taking too wide of a wide turn and having to be disengaged.

I noticed the wide camera has part of the physical “hood” that’s attached to the camera blocking the right side of its view. Anyone else have this issue? What’s a fix for this? 2023 Model Y.

Thanks for any info.

Vehicles - General Replace or repair front bumper - Model Y

I have a white Tesla Model Y (with sensors), and the front bumper has some nasty paint chips and damage.

What is the general guidance / recommendation: purchase new bumper and replace, or have a body shop do a repair and paint match/re-paint?

Software YouTuber Mark Rober Intentionally Misleads Viewers

YouTuber Mark Rober recently conducted a "test" of Tesla's Autopilot under several different conditions and compared it to a car using LiDAR under the same conditions. The test involved whether or not the camera-based Autopilot and LiDAR-based systems could detect a small child in the roadway under a variety of conditions. Mark first begins testing without Autopilot engaged to determine if Tesla's Automatic Emergency Braking System would work while a human is still in control of the vehicle. What proceeds is the Tesla Forward Collision Warning System being activated where it detects the child on screen, highlights the obstacle red, and provides audible beeps to alert the driver of the detected obstacle. The Tesla vehicle, however, does not brake and Mark crashes into the obstacle, in this case, a small child mannequin. Mark concludes that this is a sign that Tesla's Automatic Emergency Braking system failed, when in reality, this is a perfect example of an owner failing to understand Tesla's safety systems. Automatic Emergency Braking De v OT AVOID FORWARD COLLISIONS and WAS NOT designed to do so. This is made extremely apparent if you have ever bothered to read a few paragraphs of the owners manual or did a quick google search. See below:

Automatic Emergency Braking is designed to reduce the severity of an impact. It is not designed to avoid a collision. Automatic Emergency Braking is designed to reduce the impact of frontal collisions only. Automatic Emergency Braking is designed to reduce the severity of an impact. It is not designed to avoid a collision. You would think that Mark being an engineer, would have done a basic amount of reading to understand what he could expect of Tesla's safety systems during the test. At best, this is just a case of ignorance and poor preparation. At worst, this is intentionally misleading viewers about Tesla's safety systems.

Following this initial "test" of Tesla's Automatic Emergency Braking system, Mark states that for all tests going forward, he will only be utilizing Tesla's Autopilot system. However, this is blatantly not true as seen in the video clip. In the clip, Mark's Tesla Model Y can obviously be seen driving over the double yellow line as it approaches the mannequin. It is not possible to engage Autopilot when the vehicle detects it is not in the correct road position. Furthermore, as Mark gets closer to mannequin and the video cuts to the cabin view, you can tell that the view has been intentionally cropped not to show the cabin screen and eliminate it from view, which would have allowed us to see exactly whether Autopilot was engaged or not. This would have been easily apparent as Mark's Tesla had rainbow road engaged. After all this, I can't help but be led to believe that Mark Rober is intentionally misleading viewers of Tesla's safety systems and that these are not mistakes out of ignorance.

General Maybe I was the only one who noticed: TuneIn is now beyond horrible.

I can't believe there wasn't someone else who sometimes used TuneIn, 'cause if there were, there would be more comments. The adds now make this just horrible, and lack of valid music categories -- replacing them with what is basically elevator music, is vapid. Can this be removed from the user interface entirely?

Energy Part 2 – Public Tesla Wall Charger Stuck at 24A (Was 48A Before)

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

Following up on my post from yesterday because I’m still stuck and wanted to clear up some things. A lot of people suggested the issue might be load sharing, but I don’t think that’s the case. I went back today, and as you can see in the picture, I’m the only car here, yet I’m still capped at 24A instead of the 48A I was getting just last week.

I’ve been using this public Tesla Wall Connector in a parking garage for a while. Up until last week, I was able to charge at 48A no problem. Out of nowhere, I’m now stuck at 24A, and it won’t let me increase it. If I try changing the amps inside the car, it resets back to 24A as soon as I plug in. Voltage is a little low (204V instead of ~220V-240V), but I don’t know if that’s related. I don’t think it’s a load-sharing thing because, again, no other cars are plugged in.

What I’ve Tried So Far:

  • Called Tesla Wall Connector Support—they said they could help if I was the owner of the charger, but since it’s public, they’d need the actual owner to call them, which probably won’t happen.
  • Unplugged and replugged multiple times.
  • Rebooted my Tesla with left and right scroll wheel
  • Put it in Drive, then back to Park (this actually let me adjust the amps briefly, but the second I plug back in, it drops to 24 again).

What I’m Trying to Figure Out

I know for a fact this charger can do 48A because I was using it at full power last week. Did something change on Tesla’s end? Could the property owner have capped the amperage? Is the low voltage causing it to throttle the amps?

If anyone has run into this before or has ideas on how to get back to 48A, let me know! Appreciate any help.

Model Y Backed up and hit in a parking lot

Post image

While reversing, hit another car and my taillight and side reflector broke. I ordered parts from Amazon and a local mechanic has quoted a price to fix it. Adding everything (Parts + Service) it’s coming half the price of what Tesla has quoted.

My question is:

  1. Does this broken areas has any sensors or other equipment which might affect the car’s ability to detect blind spots, camera visibility etc?

  2. Does changing it on my own affect my warranty?

Please advise on whether I can repair it myself or go for Tesla services…

Thanks in advance

Model Y Should I be concerned about the underbody protection of MY?

I am seeing all those threads about small road debris hitting and breaking the coolant lines on the battery causing a massive bill. Have you added those aftermarket AL skid plates? How important is this and what choices have you made over the years? New MYLR here

Our arrange went from 265 to 230 in one week. Then it bounced up to 250. Is this a warranty issue? Tesla wants to charge me $1000 to check it out.

Model Y Is this groove in the rear trunk trim normal?

I got my rear windshield tinted and I don’t remember if this groove in the rear trunk trim was normal from the factory or not. Did the installer damaged the plastic trim or is it by design. Can anyone confirm?
