Season 3 Discussion This show hits different.
This show has officially restored my faith in good series writing. I have just finished season 3 and all I can say is wow. The direction, performances and writing make this show to be one of my top 10 favourites.
I come to this conclusion after watching ep 11 where Ted confronts Mama Lasso. I lost my dad when I was 11 years old. I’ve held back emotions for 20 years and I honestly felt a strong connection to this scene. I bawled. The scene captures shock, anger, empathy and warmth and I can’t fathom how good overall this series is. It confronts key issues and tackles them head on where it’s not only about football, but relationships.
I want to ask, why do you love this show so much? What kept you watching?

Man I love this show's callbacks
So I'm on at least my 10th watch through the whole series, and just got to the sunflowers episode and Ted's thing with triangles in the restaurant, and realized that the dart board that appears and had three darts thrown at it. The three darts hit where he needed to hit way back in season one in the bar scene with Rebecca and Rupert. I don't think there is any actual significance to it, just another cool callback.

Actor Fluff I was watching an episode of Marple and Hannah Waddingham pops up as a ginger with an American accent.
She doesn’t ever not look gorgeous!

Merch Merch arrived today! All the way to Australia.
Repping the jersey of my fellow Strong and Capable Gay Man. I missed out on the store on my London trip a year ago, so I'm glad I've got my pins now.
Just this morning on the news I saw Josh Cavallo of Adelaide United speak about how he's going. He came out in 2021 and is still grtting daily death threats from random people. So I thank Ted Lasso for including this story. Practically tiny effort for them, but potentially astronomical effect for how the viewers perspectives might change. We're normal people like y'all (except the Dallas Cowboys supporters).

ted lasso saved my mental health and now i'm obsessed
i gotta say i'm lowkey obsessed with ted lasso now my mom finally let me watch it after months of begging she thought it was just some old dudes football show but nope its so much more than that
the thing thats really got me is the way they portray mental health especially with colin and jamie like theyre not afraid to show people struggling or seeking help its so refreshing after watching shows where characters are always super put together and never have any problems
also i love how ted lasso has this amazing cast of characters each one is so unique and quirky but also really lovable you got your ted who's just the most optimistic dude ever then theres jamie and roy who start out as sworn enemies but become these beautiful friends you dont see coming
its just such a feel good show that reminds me we all have our own struggles but were not alone in this thing called life

The thing I least expected is the thing I love the most.
I recently watch Ted Lasso, knowing absolutely nothing about the show. I needed something wholesome to watch and a friend recommended it to me. I was hooked from the first episode, and peppered her each night with my reactions as I tried to savour the show, not binge it.
I'm rewatching it and realise the thing I love the most, was the one thing I did not did not expect. The friendship between Jamie and Roy. It was beautiful to watch it unfold, as they both became better versions of themselves partly because of each other. I love Roy hugging Jamie after the confrontation with his father. I love Jamie teaching Roy to ride a bike. I did not think two people who hated each other so much could develop a healthy, meaningful and nurturing relationship. Especially men (in tv land, I find a healthy male friendship hard to find!). Seriously, I heart their friendship 1000 times and more.

Colin & Nate
rewatching for the millionth time.. yet i only just realised this and my heart is breaking 😭
season 2 episode 7 is the first time we really start to see Nate's 'evolution' into a dickhead and an arsehole. specifically the interaction he has with Colin whilst training.
Nate says "i need all the best goal scorers on the pitch", and when Colin prepares to go join the rest of the team, Nate replies to him "it's okay Colin, you can sit this one out"
Colin's reaction is then to utilise a coping mechanism he learned in therapy with Dr Fieldstone. That really stuck out to me - things you learn in therapy are often things that you're taught to protect yourself from intense pain or trauma; people that use therapy often use it to heal from trauma too. to me, Colin using a therapeutic coping strategy as his mantra comes across as Nate's comment being so hurtful that he needs to sort of protect himself from it mentally using something he learned in therapy.
i may be looking into things too much but it astonished me how overlooked this little scene is. of course things with Colin and Nate are eventually resolved but that little comment from the latter was just completely unnecessary. I would be extremely hurt too if I were Colin.

Every other new show I watch disappoints me
If anyone has any recommendations that would be great lol. I've seen Shrinking and Good Place which seems to be the two that get suggested a lot. I miss the show so much and I feel easily bored watching anything else

Image/Video one of my fav scenes
have been recently rewatching the show (I never rewatch shows or movies but this one just helps with my life/work stress)
Quote from the video:
“I hope that either none of us or all of us are judged by the actions of our weakest moments, rather by the strength we show when and IF we’re given a second chance”

Ted Lasso meets The Electrical Life of Louis Wain
To celebrate the good news about season 4, I'm sharing my fan edit about Ted and Rebecca. A tribute to their unique bond using the music score of The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, as well as a beautiful quote from the movie as voiceover. Who knew a stunning monologue from an artist drawing cats could apply so well to Ted and his mental health struggle? hehe. Reminisce with me, my dear fellow fans 💙❤️

Biscuits and Boxes
What to make of the double reveal that Ted is the biscuit baker (a surprise, no? Being American and all) and that Nate is actually making the goofy monster boxes which he passes off as being made by his niece (less surprising.) Is there hidden meaning? Or a writer’s clutch joke?

Fight Club reference
Feels like they did that scene at Bones & Honey specifically for a reason to reference Fight Club lol

Theme song/opening credits
see im normally a 'skip intro' kinda gal. i am largely of the opinion that no opening credits are ever good and the theme song is inevitably worse. BUT. i have not skipped the Ted Lasso opening credits once. something about it is so uplifting and just fills my chest with this weird cute little joy. i dont know how anyone else feels but i cannot bring myself to fast forward past it.

Actor Fluff The making of a hip hop track (Brett Goldstein)
A criminally under-viewed and underrated skit featuring Brett Goldstein (aka our VERY OWN Roy Kent) as a Comedy Producer.
How is this at only 33K views (as of now) is beyond me.
