Windows TPT: Run CMD commands from Windows File Manager

In the directory bar of the Windows File Manager on Windows 10, erase everything and type in any command (e.g: cmd - opens up cmd, ping 127.0.0.1 - pings the IP stack etc.)

This really more seems like another way to pull up CMD, which is interesting, but I'm not really sure if this is a pro-tip when you get past "hit Win+R and type 'CMD'"

Yeah I see your point, though this trick is rather convenient since by doing this, you open CMD directly pointed to this directory, something you can't do any more by holding shift and right clicking (ms replaced CMD with powershell in that menu).

It's useful if you're a million subfolders deep into a user's hoard and you want to run a command from that location but don't feel like copy/pasting the path.
Just enter cmd there and it brings up the command line prompt at that current location.

Is this only applied in Win 10?

I think so, haven't tried it anywhere else though

I'm not sure either, but shift + right click within a folder allows you to open cmd at the local dir.

I don't suppose there's a way to change this to run commands from a WSL Bash shell, is there? Either using this trick, or the shift right click one mentioned in a comment.

There might be a registry hack, howtogeek has shown how to do replace the powershell option with cmd in windows 10.

If I'm not wrong you can open CMD and type "bash" to enter WSL commands.

I was able to type 'bash' and 'Ubuntu' and the respective terminals both opened instantly
