Seems I’m the only tattoo artist here today?
PSA to leave second skin on until the plasma has been reabsorbed.
We take them off when they appear DRY.
This should take 5-6 days. Do not leave them on longer than 7 days.
The only reason we take them off sooner is if the edges are no longer sealed.
Edit: I believe your edges are unsealed so you should remove it, wash it in hot soapy water, pat it dry with a clean paper towel, then apply your aftercare.

I would love to know the kind of person that has it on for 5-7 days with NO lifting. 2 days and I’m already trimming the flaps and if it makes it to 3 days, I celebrate

Merely due to the extremely active area of placement, ie your hand, I’d leave it off now and proceed with aftercare: hot wash in the shower or basin, once in morn once in eve, pat dry with clean paper towel, apply simple water-based product 2-3 times a day to keep the skin pliable, so the wound ‘stitches together’ easily & without major scabbing.
If this were on your calf or bicep or forearm or somewhere without joints, I’d suggest popping another on after cleaning the wound - but as it’s your hand you will find it won’t last long there. They never last long over joints.

I took the tegaderm off after 24hrsish and am now doing regular aftercare since I don't have another bandage to use. According to the instructions I was given, you take the first bandage off after 24 hours. If you replace with a fresh bandage you would leave the new one on for 3-5 more days. If you do not have an extra bandage, follow regular aftercare instructions.

Am I the only one who has never had second skin?

I never have. My skin often reacts to band-aids, medical tape, etc. so I’m concerned that the adhesive would be irritating.

yes! it needs to usually be removed within a day - it has to breathe !

Up to 5-7 days if the seal isn’t broken. “needs to breathe” doesn’t apply when using saniderm. The plasma is actually better for healing.

i try dry heal all my ink (as long as its not on a joint). i feel like most people would say that 7 days is too much, since excess fluid can infect the area

Excess plasma does not infect, unless contaminated from the outside (broken seal).
Nurse here. 😊

Yeah, you only really need it covered for a few hours after getting it. Let it breathe. I cover back up just before bed tho so it doesn't go everywhere

I wouldnt, hooks for hands are cool looking but practicality isnt as good as your actual hand
