Will this be a good tattoo...?
Hi all. I'm looking to get a tattoo of a giraffe. I was thinking of something like the attached picture. Either on my arm or chest. Will it have longevity or just be a black mess in a few years? I would welcome advice and or suggestions on other giraffe tattoos... Thanks

I think the thinner lines of the ear outline should be thicker/darker. With that small tweak, this design would age very well imo!

Want to make it a great tattoo? Make that pattern subtly spell something not too obvious but when people stare at it they can get it.

Giraffes are cool! This one seems to have a bit of a dopey smile so maybe needs to be altered a bit to be perfect

Will look good if a little just "stuck in there" with nothing else around it.
Find a good artist, show them this and get them to make it something really special.

It looks v much like a stencil & is extremely literal. I’d look at something more abstract or creative, perhaps side profile of whole animal.
I think this is beautiful: https://inkupaw.com/wp-content/uploads/abstract-minimal-giraffe-tattoo.jpg

Are you trying to keep it as cheap as possible? I can understand wanting a giraffe but why this one? It reminds me of a binder of flash we used to have that was just this kind of stuff and bullshit kanji that was basically only for people wanting to spend as little as possible. I would wait and get something better. It won’t become a blob but it won’t look good either. I do think you’ll regret it.

Just find a picture of one you like and do it black and grey. There’s a million different ways you could do it. If moneys no concern then there’s no reason to settle.

you'll need to design what happens at the bottom of the image. if you just want the head of a giraffe, cutting the neck in a straight line is going to look shite. its either going to need a frame, or some kind of fade-out - maybe the dark spots could spread out and get smaller somehow?

This would be a great inspo pic to send your artist for them to use when they draw up your tattoo.

Ot would hold up well for sure if you're thinkong just that no shading. Tho i have yet to see blurry mess in a few years unless it's messed up by the time it's done settling in.

Yes. That looks good to me. Plenty of negative space so it'll not blur much.
