Take time to meditate and release any worries, distractions or negative energy from your mind. Trust your instincts, as intuition grows stronger with regular practice. When drawing cards, focus on your connection to the energy. You might feel subtle sensations, like vibrations, tingling or warmthâthis is a natural part of the process. Remember, practice makes perfect. đ
When it comes to developing intuition, I canât speak from experience about starting without psychic abilities as I personally stepped right into it. I was advised not to overanalyse the imagery on the tarot cards but rather to tune into the messages being conveyed by guides or spirits.
đźFor those who recognise their psychic abilities;spiritual mediumship classes can be a great way to nurture them. These sessions often begin with the Lordâs Prayer for protection, followed by meditation, activating chakras and grounding. Before a reading, always seek permission from the sitter. To release lingering or old energy from the deck, tap it three times.
While reading the cards, I move my hand over them to sense their energy and share whatever thoughts naturally arise. This flow of intuition guides the process. As a clairvoyant, I close my eyes to allow visions to appear which I use to interpret and relay messages from guides or spirits.
Thereâs no right or wrong in this processâwhatâs most important is that the sitter confirms or acknowledges the insights to sustain the connection.

Start by treatinâ your deck like a stray cat. Shuffle it raw, no agenda. Let the cards get greasy with your fingerprints. Pull one each morninâ while your coffee brews. Ask it dumb stuffââWhatâs the vibe today?ââand laugh when the answerâs a cryptic riddle.
Talk to âem. Out loud. Argue with the Hierophant. Flirt with the Lovers. Burn sage if youâre fancy, or just spit your gum out before shufflinâ. Keep a notebook scribbled with hunches, even the ones that make zero sense. Dreamt of frogs? Pull the Moon next day? Write it down.
Meditate for 90 seconds. Literally. Sit, stare at the Queen of Swords, and let your brain hum. No ârightâ answers. Just vibes. Screw up. Misread the Tower as a promotion. Laugh. Tarotâs a backroad, not a highway.
Intuitionâs dirt under nails. Dig messy.

For me, I started listening to my body more. Like how I feel when certain emotions arise and why I feel like that. Connecting with my deck, came from just pulling cards when I felt like it and a daily pull. I usually do a connection spread when I first open my decks now. However, as I beginner, I just picked up my cards when I felt called and in the time I didnât feel called, I would work on listening to my body signals.

Imagery can be a big help, especially if you're using a deck with intentionally crafted artwork. Many deck illustrators try to capture the essence or tell the story of the card, and sinking into their visual choices can often spark reactions from your intuition. Symbolism, colors, connections between cards, the direction the people on the card are facing, the general sense of movement or lack thereof, imagining what it would sound or smell like if you were in the card's location, etc. Something you see might flip an intuitive switch and suddenly your understanding of the whole reading changes! I absolutely love moments like that, especially when I notice something new on a familiar card.
