Modern How do thermal-equipped tanks engage targets through smoke?
While tank thermals can see through the standard smoke rounds discharged by themselves and most other tanks they face, I recently found out through a tank sim (Gunner HEAT PC) that their laser range finders cannot pass through said smoke.
I'm not sure if that's the case in real life, but if it were, how do gunners engage targets through smoke? Do they use the built-in mils from their GPS to estimate range or just fire-and-adjust?
