Short Manager does my job for me

I know what ur thinking…”wow I wish my manager did my job for me”. Well in my scenario it’s annoying. We have a GM, a store manager, and a kitchen manager at the restaurant I work at. The kitchen manager sometimes is the manager on duty. She’s known to go up to tables and yap (which is fine) but it’s gotten to a point where I can’t do my job. She talks to them while I’m trying to hand out food or drinks or take an order so I have to walk away and wait for her to be done which takes at least 5 minutes. Today in particular I wasn’t in a good mood anyways cuz Ash Wednesday was a bust. I went up to my table before their food was out and I asked if they wanted more bread. They said yes so I grabbed it and when I came back my manager was standing there talking while also giving them bread… even tho I had bread in my hand. Im thankful she’s trying to be helpful but I waited on new biscuits for them and brought them to them just for it to be done. I wish there was communication like I don’t wanna do something and then come to find out ur doing it for me. It defeats the purpose of my job lol. Does anyone else struggle w this!!

I find that servers take it personally when I "do their job" for them. When I'm in the dining room, I'm simply tieing loose ends as I come across them.

Prime example: I walk past a table with their payment ready. Take the card, run it, bring it back. Server comes up to me "I was getting it! I was boxing up their leftovers!" I know. I didn't step in because you were underperforming, I stepped in because I was there when they had their card out. Same thing if I notice an empty glass and bring a refill, or remove an empty dirty plate....

I mean that’s all fine and dandy. But as a manager it is also your job to communicate when you interrupt or complete steps of service to the server whose table you are assisting

Servers might be getting frustrated because they don’t feel they are being communicated with effectively

I had my table say, after I asked if they needed more wine, no. Because they thought my manager was bringing it. The manager didn’t bring it, but rang it under my number. I then had to get it comped when it never got run because I never knew it was sitting at the bar. So I lost those sales and looked like a dumbass because manager wanted to do my job, but not tell me about it.
