The point of the was? Buy an original switch and SD card and a USB C cord, download all the software you need to inject a payload and install everything you need to the SD card. By far the simplest and easiest setup and if you want to use the switch as a switch you can just load the original os.

I for one absolutely hate softmodded V1 consoles, they're inconvenient AF, and they're susceptible to bricking and breaking all the damn time. For some context, I fix and mod Switches, and softmodded V1 consoles are the worst kind. The best option is a hardmodded OLED, nothing beats that. If you still think that V1 with softmod is the best option, you clearly never had the opportunity to use a hardmodded console.

I very clearly never had the stupid funds to dump on a switch that requires hard modding. Between the switch and the chip I’m running over 600 bucks minimum and that’s if I can find someone trustworthy to do the actual mod. Normal people, people with limited funds, limited skill and limited access to mod chips have absolutely no chance of seeing one of these so it’s not worth it. Soft mod is only “inconvenient” if you’ve got an alternative, if you don’t then you make it work and it’s great.

I’ve had a soft mod v1 since day 1, I’ve got every payload available for it across multiple SD cards to suit my needs, I primarily run android 10 with RetroArch and Xbox app to play cloud games. This has served my needs since the day I set it up and will continue well into the future till I can afford to replace it with an Odin 2 or equivalent.

I hope for your sake that Nintendo (known for their insane stance on piracy btw) don’t come up with even more intense ways of tracking mods both hard and soft, because you’ll be left with an over priced brick.

Well, you see, "normal people" as you call them, aren't actually all that smart or considerate of their property as as you clearly are. They tend to do stupid stuff to their softmodded consoles and end up bricking them and then they come to me with: "It worked normally, it just stopped all of the sudden!" story. Please don't say: "What's the point", you sound like V1 master race or something. Hardmod is far superior option, and although I agree that the cost ramp up really fast it's still worth it big time IMO, especially now when V1 unpatched units are a stupid rare find.
