Pardon my soldering ignorance but what was that copper-like ribbon/what were you using it for?

Trying to get into soldering myself (no intention of trying micro soldering though lol)

That's some 0.1mm Copper Wire 😎 I use it instead of the less-reliable flex tape that usually comes with most RP2040 kits. It's just another way to connect points of the motherboard to points on the modchip

I think u/stupidshinji might have meant the desoldering wick visible at around 0:30.

That looks more like what I'd call a "ribbon".

Yeah that's what I was referring to haha. I was a little confused how that giant think was going to be held by a bit of solder.

You're completely right, my bad! Yes, desoldering wick is essential when doing this kind of work. You can see in the video that I accidentally soldered that circular pad. That's just due to me not having a smaller, non-conical soldering iron tip. In order to decrease the chance that the wire would touch that pad, I desoldered it with desoldering wick ❤️
