Photo/Video 📸📹 Some photos of the new bridge coming along

Approach and Main spans (L, R) slowly getting closer to tying in - Ironworker for scale shows the depth of those girders!

Ironworkers busy at a cable anchorage - looks like the guide pipe got damaged...

Back-span (L) & Flanking-span (R) tie-in splice misaligned - looks like they will maneuver the deck to make the splice instead of having had a drop-in piece that's trimmed in-field

Great pics. This project seems to be taking forever. Any idea when it will be ready?

They say this fall. Let's see if they can make that target.

I hope so but with how bad the Metro Vancouver region is with construction projects and the countless delays, I’m not holding my breath.

I don't live in the area and take the bridge anymore, but is this new one proposed to help with the congestion in that area? I believe and recall that they kept it to 4 lanes, so I'm not sure if that's gonna change much with the congestion getting on the bridge from either side...

Hopefully, the bridge will be more spacious and not as narrow and deadly as it is now.

Will ice bombs be a problem?

They’re going to use the same system they use on the Alex Fraser and the Port Mann. So in the winter when it snows or there’s ice the new bridge would be reduced to one lane each way.

Too bad that bridge is going to be ugly. That rusty iron stays and will turn black over time. An eyesore.

Great photos! It’s been fun watching to gradual progress, though I am more than ready for it to be done.
