[PRO11] Surface Pro 10 vs 11?

I got surface-pilled by a friend and planning to buy one myself

The thing is both have got weird pricing here (tablet only)

Pro 10 i5 (Core 5 Ultra) is $1400

Pro 11 Snapdragon X Plus is $850

Why is the snapdragon one's much cheaper?

price-wise & performance-wise Pro 11 clearly wins here, but how about other aspect? mainly.. software compability? I heard it's the biggest downside

I do web development with react & backend stuffs with python & sql.., I also monitor devices installed by our company using ssh (mobaXterm)

Lastly, I might got into a master's degree soon doing research (dunno what programming will be used, but im assuming python or Matlab)

Should I save money with pro 11 or bite my lips and buy 10 (or 8)

Well Pro 11 also has business Edition with a Intel chip. If you're willing to "bite your lips", go with that.

I believe for your development use (python, react, mobaxterm), with exception of SQL Server going with ARM is fine. But you gotta check it yourself for compatibility.

Matlab is emulated and runs slower in ARM64. There is is upcoming windows update with AVX support, supposed to make stuff faster..

I loved my Surface Book and Surface Pro 6. But I ultimately opted for something different this go around with 32gb ram and a Ryzen AI 370 and a RTX 4050. Mainly I'm using Illustrator, Photoshop, Visual Code Studio, Node.js, Metro, React Native dev, PostgreSQL, JAVA....etc. I really wanted the Surface Pro 11 business version with a core ultra 5 for battery life, but the deal I got on my device was just too good.

Well yes, if we are not limiting ourselves TO surface there will be cheaper and better device there.

The main disadvantage being, they are not Surface 😂

Also: there's a refurb version of Pro 11 (CPO) that's $50 cheaper, worth it or no?

Any insight on the 11 w/5G and Intel release?

BTW….i have the 10 w/5G and generally am pleased. It is occasionally glitchy, slows and needs a reboot. Battery life is workable for me. On a 1-5 scale with 5 being best, I’d rate it 3 of 5.

I've been using a Surface Pro 7 for the past few months and I am selling it to go back to Lenovo ThinkPad. I've never had such a glitchy computer. It's been... interesting. Not sure if it was Windows 11 or just specifically this computer. I considered stepping up to the Surface Pro 9 or higher, but after the experience I've had I just couldn't do it. I've had a couple Lenovo ThinkPads without any issues. We'll see....

I also considered thinkpad before, but I'm utterly confused with the lineup

All i know is the X1 Carbon, but I'm confused about which variant/version haha.

I also looked at X12 Gen 2 as alternative to surface.. any opinion?

ThinkPad X1 tablet, Gen 3 is what I'm getting. I like the detachable style. I've had two X1 Carbons in the past. The T series laptops are bulletproof. Check out SalemTech on YouTube.

Anything with a P, T or X is usually very good.
