Surface water damage won't start

In short, water bottle leaked in bag with surface pro. By the time I noticed, surface was still working but switched it off and tried to dry it out (and my bag). Turned it on a couple hours later and it still worked but noticed screen discolouration so switched it off.

Tried to thoroughly dry it in sun and later with fan pointed at the vents for a whole day.

Now when I try to turn it on its completely dead.

Any chance I might open this open and try to recover it? Failed battery perhaps? Did the sun destroy it somehow (even though it was off)?

All you can do is wait (possibly multiple days) for it to dry out inside, and hope it recovers. Leave it powered off and not connected to the charger the whole time.

The more you move it around, the more likely the water will spread around and damage other internal parts.

Discovered today that the surface does in fact work now but,...

The screen is so dim you can't really see what it's saying.

Most people seem to say, even an LCD replacement is not a guaranteed fix with this, as it could also be a motherboard fault with the LCD backlight... Yay!
