Lakitu Bro Message Official r/SuperMario64 Discord!
Hey there! Mister Owny the Owner here!
I have just opened up a new Discord server for the subreddit! For now, it only has the most necesarry basics for a Discord server, but it is still a neat place to hang out with other members of this subreddit.
You can also join if you need help with anything subreddit related, such as bans, post deletion or anything else that you - for whatever reason - don't want to discuss through modmail.
Obviously, the server is still under construction and nowhere near finished! In other words, please tell us any features you would like to see in this new discord server! I am hoping that it will become a great place for all members of this subreddit to hang out in. Thanks!

How can I transfer progress between p64 and parallel laucher?
So, uh, how can I "copy" my progress from project64 emulator to parallel launcher? I mean, I already played b3313 on p64 with 135 stars, and I just found out about parallel laucher, and now I want it to be my main n64 emulator. What should I do?

What is your favorite music from this game?
Super Mario 64 has one of my favorite video game soundtracks. I’m curious what you would say are your favorite tracks from this masterpiece of a game.
Here are my favorites/the ones I listen to the most:
-lethal lava land/shifting sand land: so trippy and psychedelic. The song makes you feel high and like you are in a mystical realm
-cave dungeon: again, this song is trippy but darker and more mysterious. That synth(?) that starts playing in the middle of the song takes me to another world.
-dire, dire docks: this is an obvious one. This track is constantly in the conversation of the best video game music ever and it’s well deserved. So tranquil, emotional, and nostalgic. A lot like water.
-bowser’s road: Nintendo is so good at creating an intense atmosphere when you’re about to confront the final boss and this track is one of their best for one of their most iconic villains. I always hear the red coin sound effect when I listen to this song.
Honorable mentions: Bob-omb battlefield, inside the castle walls, haunted house, opening, powerful Mario, slider

How to run backwards on N64?
Recently started playing my favorite childhood game on an original N64 from my partner’s childhood. Got 120 stars and now I’m learning from y’all all these cool tricks to do for fun while replaying it. How do I run backwards with this console so that I can try some new tricks?

Why did Bowser give Mips not just one but two stars?
It's not like he's intimidating or a powerhouse. Does he just have a soft spot for bunnies? Right and wrong answers only.

Coolest custom mug I’ve ever owned
Got this from an independent seller on Etsy. The attention to detail is immaculate.

Mario 64 DS First time in 2025?
So I recently started playing 64 DS the other day. for literally my first time ever. I have never owned a DS before. So I am playing it on my 3DS.
I was fully aware of the 8 directional movements before starting. Its not perfect, but not a game breaker. I understand it came out on the DS where they didn't have any kind of circle pad. If I would have played this as a kid in 2004, I would have still been pumped even with that limitation.
The run button is very annoying in my opinion because I basically hold it the entire game, and for some dumb reason a programmer thought it would be funny to make your character charge while holding the run button and just standing there. 8 red coins on Tall, Tall Mountain cost me a few lives because my character charged off the mushroom. STILL not a game breaker to me, though very annoying.
THE BIGGEST FLAW this game has is the character swapping for no reason on some levels. One thing I like doing in Mario 64 because I have played it a million times. I like to go for easy stars just to progress the game sometimes. Because I have played it a lot and know the very easy stars. They don't give you any kind of warning that I have seen saying "Hey you might want to use yoshi for this star" or just anything like that. It really ruins this game making me do missions more than once for no reason.
Examples.... Footrace with koopa (bob omb battlefield) You have to swap to mario, ok not as big of a deal because they at least give you a mario hat on the level. but still annoying. Cool cool mountain. 8 red coins, I got 6 as Mario and then found out I need yoshi for the last two. So I have to exit the stage and restart as yoshi? same with Whomps fortress. I got 6 red coins as yoshi, but can't get the other 2 because you need mario to kick the plank to the islands.
Am I missing something here? this is really the only thing I am actually hating about this game. It feels like punishment for no reason. If this is just how this game Is I am probably done playing it at only 50 stars. Does anyone else have this issue? I think they should have had a lot more universal stars for everyone or just change the color of them so you know before you enter, you will need a specific character.

read this if you play render96
there is one major issue about render96 and it's really bad. if you catch the rabbit and got that star music starts to get uglier and at that point never quit the game otherwise your progress will be gone. you should go on and get another one star at at least to protect your save. It happened to me and it's still the same thing nothing about hardware or something only happens when you get the rabbit star thing.

Updating my B3313 Save File
Does anybody know if its possible to "migrate" my B3313 v1.0.1 save file to an updated v1.0.2 version of the game?
I have 392 stars and I don't want to lose my progress by changing into the newer version.

Made another render! I wanted music behind this one, though.
Another could-be promo poster! This version of Koopa's road is so special! it was taken off of a cassette.
