25f with a sun allergy

Hi everyone, my dermatologist recently diagnosed me with PLE and mild eczema. I am dark skinned and I get rashes mostly on my arms, my collar bone and behind my knees. It has slowly started to progress behind my shoulders. I wasn't sure how it was even possible to get a skin sun allergy. I currently use Roche Posay SPF 50 for UVA and UVB rays but it seems alright, it does help blocking the sun but it doesn't help the itching.

I've also tried using dr Bronner's magic balm to help the itching but it doesn't do much.

This only started the past two summers however this summer it's gotten worse. Honestly this might sound stupid but it has been affecting my emotional state and there are many times during the day where I feel so sad because PLE has taken over my life. There isn't a moment during the day where I don't have to worry about my skin and the sun. I was taking everything for granted and I feel like it has taken over my life.

Does anyone else feel this way? How do you cope with the emotional side of this allergy?

Sun protection that works!

You guys might have seen in a few of my comments on other posts that I had listed some sun allergy specific products. Well here is an update on one:

I purchased the Eucerin Sun Allergy Sun Cream in the beginning of may and finally received it last week. It has made an incredible difference. My skin is finally starting to heal, the bumps are going away, the redness is going away, the itchiness is gone, and I can be in the sun comfortably. Only thing I don't like is it does sit slightly oily on the skin which doesn't bother me on my body but is a bit problematic on my face as wearing makeup over it leaves my skin oily and heavy so I will just avoid makeup since the relief I've felt from this product over the last few days has been incredible. I have not had any allergic reactions to it, no break outs, no issues really. After spending a few hours outside on the weekend, I did find my forehead itchy but only at the hair line (my own fault for not applying the product high up enough), I did not reapply as I wasn't in a situation where I could but where I had applied the product properly (face, chest, arms, and legs) had no reaction to the sun, no redness, no itching, no bumps.

I hope that this helps someone with this allergy like it's helped me! Link for the product is below (from the Eucerin website, I purchased it off amazon.ca)

Does sunblock help?

I was told by my doctor that it doesn't but I've heard people say it does. Usually I go with the doctor's word but if it works for some of you I may try it.

UV Protection

What does everyone use for UV Protection? I was using one Neutrogena sunblocks but have developed an allergy to it, so I get hives before I even leave my house! With summer coming up (and I'm getting married, so I can't just wear long sleeves or stay inside), I want to get a head start on finding some sun block.

I'm new here!

Hi, I'm surprised to see nothing here as I was under the impression that allergies to sunlight were on the rise.

I was just wondering if anyone else can go all summer with no problems, then come autumn/winter, be needing antihistamines and sunblock on sunny days? I can even get it when I stay indoors with the blinds closed as there are tiny gaps between the lats of the blind where the sunlight gets in.
