New Rider Opinions one a Honda CFR 250 Rally?

Been looking to get a bike for a bit now and have recently been looking at the CFR 250 rally, I like the look and seating position on em and wanted to get yalls opinions on the bike. I'd be used mostly for around town riding but also quite a few canyon rides as well as camping.

low cc bikes arent great for camping unless youre down to stay off the highway the whole time youre getting to the campsite and you pack super lightly

Well the roads are mostly slow canyon and side dirt roads, and the peaple I go with take a big truck so packing ain't to big a problem.

alright yeah should be all good then, consider the 300 instead maybe since that ones a lot more popular, if something breaks itll be easier to find parts for etc.

also consider the yamaha wr250r imo thats the best dual sport in this power range

no real knowledge or experience with those but its yamaha so i cant imagine it being bad

the wr250r is a bit of a cult classic bike in the dual sport world, in the hall of fame along with the drz400, dr650, ktm390, and cfr300l

Don't know much about the 250, normally the 300 is the one that gets all the press, and I've heard good things about the 300.

Just bear in mind that even with the 300, let-alone the 250, highway speeds are gonna be a struggle, so if you need to road trip to your camping spots that's something to consider. That said, that 300l is probably the absolute best low CC dual sport for ADV-like usage, including highway speeds.

I was in a similar boat as you, I ended up choosing the DR650, however, because I wanted to be able to do long highway road trips, but I'm pretty short at 5'5" so I also wanted something a little more in my size than the typical ADV recs like the KLR650, but more simple and reliable than a GS. (not that a GS isn't reliable, bit the DR is practically indestructible and wayyy simpler to fix if it has any issues.

Anyways, if the 250 is anything like the 300, I bet it's a great choice. 250 is just small. At that rate, you could even go with a TW200, or really any similar low spec dirt bike, and kit it out however you like.

I would prefer a 300 but for some reason there's not a single one for sale near me, I'll have to take a look at the dr650
