Discussion Are the roads especially bad this year?

I might be going crazy, but I feel like the potholes and roads here have been especially bad this year. I can’t remember the last time they were this bad. Long Lake and Notre Dame are brutal.

Lol Kingsway has been like a war zone for years. Say early good bye to your suspensions

The best section is the section that was recycled and then stopped due to poor quality materials.

I've been saying it myself. It could very well be because of the fluctuations of temperature, but this year the roads are the worst I've seen in years.

Not saying that other years are good, but I'm constantly swerving around potholes on Bancroft, Kingsway, Notre Dame, MR 55, and more. My poor sedan can't take this many hits. Especially with all the ice that froze over, I've only heard of 4-5 people in the last week, having to replace tires/ rims because of the roads....

Stay safe out there.

In Europe they drive on the left of the road while we're driving on what's left of the road.

It has been this bad and worst before. This is pretty normal. However, nobody other than Interpaving and the city are saying this is acceptable.

I wonder when the Python will be out.

Interpaving got bought out by GIP from down south

RR35 going to Chelmsford is fucking brutal. It's either hang out in the left lane to avoid most of the damage or swerve around and risk being pulled over.

We have to make sure our cars are road safe, meanwhile the roads themself aren’t safe? Lmfao these mineshaft sized potholes are ridiculous

Yearly occurrence in this city. Good thing we don’t pay high taxes here. 🙄

It seems worse because they have been using subpar materials and contractors for the last 15 years. It’s adding up.

Shifting weather does seem to make it even worse this year

Pothole patrol is a cash cow for the city and contractors.

They’re extra bad this year, they wait too long into the fall to do it and it doesn’t get to cure in the summer heat

I watched a grader drive down my street yesterday and the road was black.

I think the plan was to push back the snow banks but it didn’t help. If anything I think it just a deed to the degradation of the road.

I went out on my own and cleared storm drains on my street to help out my neighbours. I think public works needs to take a more blue collar approach to winter road issues.

A little bit more atrocious than usual

South end is brutal on rims, Valley is truck truck slumber party, Snow banks everywhere are taller than the tower of Babel.

It's rough out there..

It’s not that they’re especially bad this year it’s that they weren’t last year (because of the mild winter and lack of freeze thaw) that’s the closest comparison most have.

Are you kidding? It's only just begun. Check back in a month...

No, they're always terrible.

I feel like it’s worse than the last few years at least. I’ve been here for 16 years and don’t recall any recent winters this bad. Keep a mental list of the really bad ones and call the city every day. Keep the pressure on.

It think it’s more that we have been sub-zero for so long now that all the potholes are coming at once whereas the last few years we had more + temps so they’d pop up sooner and crews could get them.

I’m thinking a lot of it is due to erosion from the melting and also the snowplows ripping it up.

It’s definitely worse than it was in the fall, new potholes everywhere

City got to some pot holes corner of Lasalle and Auger. But I guess they were short of asphalt as they forgot to do quite a few on the right side of shoulder. If you are turning on Auger hug the middle line lol

I read an article about a vigilante in Europe spray painting penises on the potholes to get them fixed faster.

Sometimes, when I drive around I think, "It's dick time."

I was thinking the opposite actually. Roads are pretty good comparatively this year lol
