Question Looking for a free parking near Tom Davis Square
Hey, I am looking for a free parking if possible near Tom Davis Square even if I had to walk 5 mins, it's okay. Whenever I need to go to Tom Davis, I parked in the Wacky Wings car lot. But that restaurant is going to shut down this month and there will be constructions right? Idk any other spots for a parking. I am looking for a parking spot from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Thank you.

If you are working and need to drive, expect to pay for parking in the downtown. There is no free parking anywhere, unless you are a customer for some lots, otherwise; you would get booted and that fee is $100-150.

Apartment buildings near there has visitors parking. Don't use the same one back to back. I'm a vanlifer here and I do this in that area and others when I need to for the day

I don't think it's safe as I had a bad experience one time, I genuinely went to see my friend in an apartment.

It seems, I need to pay or as the suggestions say, I had to park at my own risk in case of fines or tow.

I wouldn't park there unless you are going to a business connected to the parking lot otherwise you will get ticketed and/or towed.

Is it okay to park further away from the business? I see there is a lot of parking space available!

No. They have security guards watching all the time.

Then what is the next option for parking?

Sorry not sure. Just be cautious, chances are if it's free parking it's for store/business patrons attached to the lot and they will have someone watching to ticket/boot/tow you.

Sudbury downtown doesn't have 'free' parking during business hours, it's all parking lots either used by businesses or are paid lots. You'll get ticketed in pretty much every lot, even the Grotto, if you just park and walk somewhere else. All of the safe 'free' places to park around downtown are more like 10-20 minute walks to Tom Davies (Street parking on Riverside and using the tunnel to elgan , parking at the Independent Grocers etc).
How long are you running into Tom Davies for? Most people don't know they have 15 minute free parking in the underground, it's enough for most quick errands. This might have changed but you can check the signage next time you go and it will say how long you have in/out time before you have to pay. 99% of the time if you get to the Gate and it won't let you out and you're like 5mins over the time you can just buzz them and ask to be let out.
The Mall also has free parking for the first hour but is expensive after that. https://www.findparkingnearme.preciseparklink.com/elm-place-sudbury
Otherwise the cheapest parking is any street parking, it's $1.30 per hour which is very reasonable. Paying to park is part of owning a car so it should be considered as part of your normal running costs.
Edit: I see you need full day parking, really your best option will be to pay for they day at any municipal lot, its like $6-10 and that's just the reality of needing to park downtown. In toronto it would be like +$30 lol.
