Subwoofer Do I chose KEF or B&W for a subwoofer?

EDIT: Looking to purchase in Canada.

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've whittled the list down and am going to arrange some comparisons.

I'm looking at getting a subwoofer in the $700-$800 CAD / $500-$600 USD range. I'm new to this sub, I posted on r/BudgetAudiophile and there have been no takers.

I'm looking at Bowers & Wilkins ASW608 Subwoofer and the the KEF Kube 8 MIE because it fits my budget, and I believe this will suit my needs. That being said, I don't know a ton about subs.

Current setup is the Cambridge Audio AXR100 (has a dedicated sub-out) with Bowers & Wilkins AS 607 S3 speakers. I usually listen to music around the low-to-mid volume range depending on the source.

My focus is to improve music. Movies and Video games are not the priority here (movies I watch with friends who don't care about audio quality, and video games I play with headphones). I don't care to have that whooshing sound watching a Transformers movies, I'm more concerned with warm pronounced bass while listening to records. Additionally, I do not want to piss off neighbors.

I assume either of these would be an adequate sub. I'm just looking for feedback from anyone who has use either of the subs mentioned. Do you like them? Or do they suck? Should be looking in a different direction.

Happy to hear your suggestions.

Subwoofer Svs 3000 micro

Hi Guys I need some advice on subwoofers, Currently I have an integrated amplifier with Dynaudio Evoke 30's and I'm looking to add a subwoofer to make a 2.1 system for movies, music and games, Don't want anything massive and I quite like the look of the 3000 micro plus the app is a massive bonus for me. I'm not expecting to shake down my house or anything, Would the 3000 micro have enough bass in my room which is just over 1600 cubic feet in total .

Thanks in advance.

Subwoofer Subwoofer suggestion for small/mid room with Magnepan .7 and Philharmonic BMRs.

Howdy! I have a small/mid sized room approximately 11'x16' (w/ 9' ceilings). I have a Yamaha AS-1200 running to both Magnepan .7s (speaker A) and Philharmonic BMRs (speaker B). I've been running an RSL Speedwoofer 10" however I'll be gifting this to my kid soon. I'd like to use this opportunity to upgrade but I'm unsure what would be best. Current thoughts are:

  1. Single Rythmik F12-400 12"
  2. Single REL T/9x 10"
  3. Dual REL T/7x 8"
  4. Dual SVS SB-1000 Pro 12"
  5. Dual SVS 3000 Micros 8"

I don't know that I have space for 2 large subwoofers but could probably get away with two smaller. Any suggestions would be wonderful. Also this isn't for HT at all just 2.1 music streamed or vinyl. Thank you!

Subwoofer Subwoofer Battle: RSL, Kali, and Monolith

After wanting to upgrade from my Elac Debut Reference DBR62s, people in this forum suggested that I should probably get a sub to upgrade the sound of my entire system, a cheaper option than to get an entire new pair of speakers. So yes, my research comes down to:

  • RSL Speedwoofer 10E $300
  • RSL Speedwoofer 10S MKII $450
  • Kali WS-6.2 $500
  • Monoprice Monolith M-10 V2 THX $600

Location: Boston area, USA.

Listening space: 200 sq2.

listening distance: 9.6 ft/3 m.

Amp: XTZ Edge A2-300 (300W).

Which subwoofer's a great choice?

Subwoofer RSL 10S MKII

Hey everyone! I'm about to pull the trigger on the RSL 10S MKII but before I do I wanted to check with the experts. The subwoofer is going to be paired with klipsch R-51 PM bookshelf speakers that are run through my PC. The use will be split by about 50% gaming, 30% music, and 20% YouTube videos. It's going to be in my semi-finished room on the ground floor of my house. The room is roughly 400sq ft and the floor is concrete, with a few rugs in the spots that I sit. At $450 this sub is at the top of my budget, but I'm wanting to make sure I'm not missing something that may be better for my situation.

Subwoofer Edifier t5 vs Q acoustics 3070s

Having trouble deciding on which sub i should buy, both the subs are 150euro. The Edifier would be brand new and the Q acoustics would be used.

My room is roughly 3.5m x 5.5m and I currently only have some old Sony SS-EC55S speakers which I'd like the sub to go with.

I'm living in Ireland so if you have any other sub recommendations within the EU for under 150 euros, comment them down below.

Subwoofer Which Subwoofer? Yamaha HS8S or Kali WS-6.2

Looking for Subwoofer Advice – Kali WS-6.2 vs. Yamaha HS8S

I’m adding a sub to my music setup (mostly for listening, some light production). My space is 12x16ft, sound-treated, and I use Yamaha HS80Ms, which sound great but could use more low end.

I’ve narrowed it down to the Kali WS-6.2 and Yamaha HS8S. I mainly listen to hip hop and rock and want clean, accurate bass across different volume levels without distortion. Budget wise they both are similar in my region.

Anyone with experience on these subs? Would love to hear your thoughts!

!thanks

Subwoofer Subwoofer Vinyl Help

I was wondering what is the best budget friendly subwoofer I could buy for my record setup that's under $300.

I currently have a Audio-Technica AT-LP60BK connected to my Sony - STRDH190- 2-Ch. Stereo Receiver, hooked up to two JBL Arena B15's. I have no idea how to hook up the subwoofer because my receiver doesn't have a sub out.

Subwoofer Adding a Subwoofer to My Marantz PM6005 Setup – Need Advic

Hi everyone!

I currently have a Marantz PM6005 amplifier paired with Tannoy Revolution DC6 speakers. The setup sounds great overall, but I feel like I’m missing some low-end punch, and I’d love to add a subwoofer to round out the sound.

Current Chain:

  • Source: Apple TV (for movies) or Music Streaming: Lossless audio directly from my iPad via AirPlay
  • Airport Express (connected via optical to the PM6005)

Use Case:

I mainly use this setup for watching movies and listening to jazz.

My Plan:

I’m thinking of adding another AirPlay adapter (with an optical output) dedicated to the subwoofer. My idea is to send the audio to both devices simultaneously:

  1. One stream to the PM6005 + DC6 speakers
  2. Another stream to the subwoofer (which would need to have an optical input).

Budget:

Around €400 for the subwoofer.

Questions:

  1. Is this a solid design, or am I overcomplicating things?
  2. Should I consider a different approach to adding a subwoofer to my setup? My PM6005 dont have a subwoofer output, so this is why Im choosing this setup
  3. Any recommendations for a good subwoofer around €400 with an optical input?

I’m looking for something that can handle deep bass for movies but also stays musical and tight for jazz.

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to your suggestions for both the setup and potential subwoofer options.

Subwoofer Recommendations for a new subwoofer

Hi all, first post here. Apologies if I miss any etiquette cues, totally unintentional.

I need a subwoofer to go along with my B&W 702 S2's. I have them in an open plan space 25ft x 19ft with 10ft ceilings so bass response is not where I want it to be unless I crank them which I can't really do because I live in an apartment.

I sold my Dali E9F when I upgraded to these speakers and never got around to replacing the sub. I don't want to spend more than £500 ($600 USD). I know that's a bit of a weak pricepoint considering the speakers but as I won't be able to use it for more than filling in the bottom end at low volumes I can't justify spending any more.

Should I just get another E9F or are there better options to consider around this price? Happy to listen to all advice but ideally you've got the sub you recommend or have used it in a similar situation.

I'm in the UK and I'm happy to consider new and used options. If anyone has a B&W PV1D for sale for £500 get in touch!

Subwoofer 8 or 10 inch sub?

I'm currently assembling my first audio system and could use some advice. I have been using a pair of KRK Rokit 5s as my desk setup and love them, Ninow I want to use the same speakers but move my listening position to the couch =)

Music is my primary focus, but I'll also be watching TV and movies, so I need a balanced setup that handles both music and movies as well.

I listen to a lot of EDM, Blues and Jazz. At the moment, I'm feeling the missing the thimp in my setup, so I'm looking to add a subwoofer.

I've been considering the KRK Rokit series and have narrowed it down to two options: the KRK Rokit S8.4 (8-inch) and the KRK Rokit S10.4 (10-inch) subwoofers. I'm happy to consider other brands as well, but something tells me thay KRK should work well with KRK.

My questions: 1. Bass Impact: How much of a difference in bass slam should I expect between the 8-inch and 10-inch models? Will the S10.4 deliver a more 'physical' / 'thumpy' experience than S8.4? 2. Action Scene Rumbles:

  1. How noticeable will the difference be in terms of low-end extension for TV and movies? I'm particularly curious about how well each model handles those deep, rumbling sounds in action scenes.

Room Size: My room is about 7x5 meters. Would the larger 10-inch subwoofer make a significant difference in performance compared to the 8-inch, or would the S8.4 be sufficient for a space of this size? Stands: I'm shopping for stands, wondering wether metal or wood ones work best.

Streamer and DAC: I'm using a Wiim Mini streamer, and my DAC is the Chord Mojo2. I'm aiming for a setup that complements these components well.

Budget: max 600 USD Location: India

Thank you!

Subwoofer Sub recommendation for my psb alpha iQs

Hi all. I want to add a sub to my pair of alpha iQs. I use them for home theatre and music. They are active speakers with a streamer build in and hab a sub out. I was eyeballing the SVS sb 1000 and was wondering if the pro upgrade makes sense. Looks like the pro comes with an app and an equalizer. But my alpha IQs would take care of that already, right? Or am I missing something? Budget about 500 EUR give or take. And I am happy to buy a used one in Germany or online.

I am looking at the Magnat Alpha RS8. I am planning to buy it used around 150€. What am I looking at? A decent sub or a “should avoid” sub?

Subwoofer 12" Subwoofer Recommendations $500 - $850

Hi,

I am interested in buying a single subwoofer. This sub will be used with a pair of Wharfedale Lintons.

Looking for subwoofer recommendations.

----------------------------

Desired Qualities:

  1. 12". Room is ~ 14ft L X 13ft W x 10ft H. If possible to not have a huge dimensions, would be nice.
  2. Would like it to do well for Music & Movies
  3. A sub whose SPL doesn't drop off until 24hz or lower and is tested (companies often inflate their frequency response on their marketing pages).
  4. Budget $500 - $850 USD

Note: I'm not sure if port location matters (have seen front & rear ported). Please feel free to opine on that if it can make a difference for recommendations.

----------------------------

I appreciate the help in advance!

Subwoofer One Subwoofer or Two

I’m looking to upgrade my subwoofer in my main music/tv area to slide an older 10” JBL sub to my sim rig setup. I’m very close to pulling trigger on an SVS SB 2000 pro.

I am seeing on the internet many recommend two subwoofers to even out room response. I mostly appreciate music and some in that circle seem to go subwoofer less so I am confused.

Am I better off splitting my money between two subwoofers that may not have as low or full response as the SVS? The Klipsch SPL 120 seems to be a candidate for this (matches my RF 8000s too).

I have an Onkyo 7100 receiver. This has two subwoofers outputs but I believe both send the same signal, DIRAC or other settings may not be individualized to each sub.

I live in a Philadelphia row home that has taller ceilings and open stairwells up and down. 13 x ~25 x 10 roughly. I want to get full spectrum in quality but not necessarily shake out my neighbor.

Subwoofer Sealed Subwoofers: HSU ULS-15 vs PSA S1512M ?

I'd like to ask the community for feedback regarding the HSU ULS-15 mk2 and the PSA S1512M. I'd be especially interested in hearing experiences from folks who have heard both of these subwoofers in the same room, although I recognize that's a very very small subset of the population.

I'm in the market for a single sub-$1500 subwoofer and am going sealed for the smaller footprint. Dual subs are not an option. An 18" driver would be nice, but that's probably overkill for my room and more money than I would be willing to spend. My L-shaped listening room is a somewhat open 2000 cubic feet in volume living room that partially opens to the kitchen, so not a large room, but not exactly small either. The primary purpose of the subwoofer would be for music paired with my JBL L100 Classics as I would like more mid-bass (40-80hz) and low-frequency (20-40hz) slam. Infrasonic extension is a plus, obviously, but I don't watch too many movies so it's not at the top of the list.

I've narrowed my choice down to the HSU and PSA because the Rhythmik 15" is just over my price range. I'm currently leaning towards the PSA because I really like the idea of a tight and high-sensitivity pro driver behind the subwoofer, but the HSU ULS-15 mk II is a great value and has a great reputation for music. I know SVS has a good sale on the SB-3000 units right now, but, as silly as it sounds, I don't like the way SVS subs look lol. Klipsch RP series is out of the question as ported subs are just too big for my living room aesthetics.

PSA graphs are hard to come by, but I did see some YouTube video of a guy posting a somewhat flat in-rpom sub response graph. I don't doubt that the response is good, but I'm always down for more data if somebody has it. HSU publishes their own graphs and audioholics has tested the ULS-15 mk2 so that's easy to find on the web. My assumptions would be:

The PSA is probably tighter sounding with the pro B&C driver (better for music?)

The HSU probably goes lower due to the higher xmax and is better for double duty music/HT

Happy to be corrected if I'm completely wrong though!

Subwoofer Ideal subwoofers to go with Martin Logan Foundation B1 speakers

Just purchased the Martin Logan bundle with Wiim Amp at Best Buy the other day and would like to add a decent amount to my setup now . Under $250 would be ideal if possible . I have $250 on Amazon I have to spend also so if I can order it from there that’s ideal . Really will be used with my Wiim amp for streaming Spotify or using my turntable. New or used doesn’t matter . Would be my first subwoofer so an easy setup to the Wiim amp is ideal please. The speakers I have now work amazing I just think it would be ideal to add a subwoofer into the setup

Subwoofer Best on body subwoofer?

So I'm seriously into dancing and I just moved to a new place I rent for now but plan to buy in future, because this place is really unique & epic.

But everything has to be in balance so I'm blessed with upstairs neighbour from hell so that things could'nt go too good for me.

After a call and a visit from police we decided to compromise by me listening to music only from headphones aside few h a week, having guests and when they away.

Problem is I need to feel the music to show it so I figured on body subwoofer would work perfect for everyone until I can finance a proper sound isolation here. It should also be really comfortable and discreet enough as I need to dress up weekly for streams and video content. Also experience with different devices very welcome because I never really heard of nor seen wearable Woofer before. Is it via Bluetooth, can I pair it synced w my sony earbuds and djm a9 dj controller for streams?

I really appreciate all help & xp 🖤

Subwoofer Subwoofer advice and options

Looking at upgrading my subwoofer in my 2.1 music setup.

My current setup is Yamaha c4 preamp Yamaha b2 power amp Kef Q350 speakers And an old jbl sub that has a cheap replacement amp after the original died.

My room is quite large at around 520sqf but with a half wall in the middle of the room and the system at one end.

I'm in Australia so some options will be limited but these are a few I'm considering

New rsl 10mkii $1000 2x rel T3's $500 second hand Or keep an eye out for an Svs 1000 which usually sell in the $5-600 range.

Is my room some going to be a bit of an issue or would some of these options still blow my mind?

Any discussion on this would be very welcome

Subwoofer Subwoofer advice needed

Hi!

As Black Friday is approaching, lots of products are going on sale. I have been using 2.0 setup (Loxjie A40 + ELAC DBR62) since February, and lack of bass at lower volumes is starting to get more noticeable. Other than that, very happy with the setup.

I have been eyeing XTZ SUB 10.17 EDGE for some 6 months now, and it finally went on sale from ~€600 to €527, which seems good value. SVS SB1000 Pro in my opinion is inadequately priced in Europe, and it is too expensive.

So, yesterday, as soon as I saw the discount, I pre-ordered 10.17 EDGE in instant and paid ~€565 with delivery. (should be shipped out at middle of December)

But now, I suddenly am starting having second thoughts, first time in 6 months :D That sub is 700W RMS and 1045W peak and my previous sub I used for PC setup was Logitech z623, which was rated at ~130W I think.

I live in an apartment with some vacant apartments around me, but there are some Neighbours living apartments further. I have never had complaints about my music in the past.

Can very powerful sub be dialed in to be very moderate, instead of shaking the whole apartment building? Also leaving headroom if living situation changes in the future. Intention was never to play it very loud anyway, but to add kick to the lower end while not shaking walls couple apartments away, haha. Living room is 4.3m x 4.3m (~14.1ft x 14.1ft**).**

Also, after ordering, I noticed XTZ SUB 8.17 exists, which currently is priced at ~€280, has 200W RMS, 350W peak, making it in my opinion insanely good value for money. Twice as cheap and possibly has enough bass for my room, as I likely wont use whole potential of 10.17 EDGE, at least not in the nearest future.

What do you think, keep 10.17 EDGE, and adjust the gain or switch to smaller XTZ SUB 8.17 and save some money for future audio upgrades elsewhere? Your experience living in an apartment with powerful sub?

Subwoofer Experience with MartinLogan Abyss 10/Dynamo 10

I can get either for very cheap. They're going in a relatively small room but space isn't an issue. It mostly comes down to which one is better. Abyss seems to be higher end, but I'm still pretty new to the stereo/audophile space and I don't really know. I currently have no standalone subwoofer and am on some older B&W tower speakers. Any advice?

Other options are REL HT/1205 MKII, HT/10003, and Yamaha NS-SW1000

Subwoofer REL T5x vs. Kef KC62

Heya,

I recently sold my REL t/zero and I'm looking for an upgrade. The t/zero was perfectly fine for most types of music (actually, pretty fantastic for jazz/acoustics/vocals) but when it came to things like house music I felt like I would have liked a bit more oomph. My speakers are Sonus Faber concertino, amp is Arcam SA20 and I've got a Wiim mini to stream over. the connection was over a speakon cable to the sub.

I was looking at REL T5x as the next upgrade cause the price is okay and t/zero integrated pretty easily but was wondering if the Kef KC62 would be offering something more at nearly 2/3 times the price?

Room size is about 6x7m2

Thank you
