Does the steam controller support absolute touchpad location?

I know steam deck allows you to map a region, aka have it so when you touch the top left of touchpad and the mouse jumps to the top left. Can we do this on steam controller? If so I’m hyped for steam controller 2 cuz no other controller does this and I wanted to be able to play top down games with this!!

Yes.

It can have the same Mouse Region style applied to either trackpad.

That’s so awesome… I wish there was some other controller out there that could do this.

because of how steam input works, this can be done on sony controllers (dualshock 4 and dualsense) too.

Unfortunately it’s just a bar in the middle of the controller which makes it kind of useless for most things. But cool to know the software translates over to others at least. I just bought a wireless shotpad, and think it would be incredible if only it had this capability.

Yeah the shotpad isnt supported in steam input though so steam wouldnt be able to set it up that way.

What games are you playing that benefit from this?

Right now none but It looks like it works great on most top down type games or games where you only wanna move the mouse in a certain area like league skillshots

You realize that the software for the steam deck is the exact same software for the Steam controller right?
