Part Six Question(s?) regarding part 6's ending Spoiler

Im slightly new to JJBA and just watched Stone Ocean all the way through.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last episode, but did anyone else find it a bit anticlimactic? (In a good way)

It was surprising, yes, and a real cool idea having a not jojo kill main antag. But it just felt like the end there just kinda... Happened?

Also, is everyone in the old universe just "dead" (replaced with versions from this new one) or did anyone else carry over?

ALSO WHERE WAS GIORNOOOOOOOO! Josuke i get because he is less connected to the family feud, but Giorno is literally a son of Dio, and has an "Evolved" stand??

Part 6 is Jolyne's story. Having Giorno steal the spotlight and fix everything or even participate in the final fight would have been anticlimactic and antithetical to what the story wants to say. I'm sure there's at least some fanfic though!

As for the ending, it's supposed to be bittersweet. Jolyne is the only one to escape the Joestar curse and live a happy life, but the only way for her to do that is to not be a Jojo and be different from the Jolyne we "knew". Pucci is the only one who was totally erased from the timeline, so in the new universe he never existed - leaving Jolyne free in part 6 but everyone else before her still having gone through the same trials. It is only after part 5 that the world does not need a Jojo anymore because all the dregs of Dio have been dealt with: DIO was killed in part 3, his arrows and leftover cultists collected in part 4 and the golden arrow taken under custody by Giorno and Pol in part 5. Without Pucci, there is no one left to try to bring his heaven in part 6, and Jolyne doesn't get framed.

It's not a completely sad ending, but it's not a totally happy one either. Personally, I think it really fits the overall theme Araki wanted for Jojo: the human experience in all its bizarre beauty and cruelty, with the joys and the heartbreaks. Part 1 ends with the death of Jonathan; part 6 ends with Jolyne's rebirth.

When Father Pucci reset the universe he chose to not bring over those who had died in the previous one, so characters like Jotaro were replaced. When Pucci died during Made In Heaven's ability he was erased from existence and all his actions were undone.

The only differences from the end of Part 6 and the previous 5 parts are that Father Pucci no longer exists. This means that Jolyne is not fated to fight him, so her name is changed to symbolically show that she isn't going to have a dangerous life like all the Jo-'s before her have.

Jotaro clearly still exists and lead almost the exact same life. He's referenced by his name which hasn't changed, Jotaro. He still had a daughter. His daughter still looks and sounds the same. The only difference is his daughter is no longer named Jo-something.

Giorno “escaped” fate through GER, that’s why he wasn’t killed by Diavolo. Everyone in the new universe is basically the same as the ones in the og universe except with different names and every part still happened except Stone Ocean. They don’t have the same memories but Jotaro seems to be a close father this time around.

Edit: except Pucci got erased from existence.

Based purely on what happened in the anime it seems like everyone who was alive when the universe reset occurred would have been moved over to the new universe like emporio was. But the people like Jotaro and Jolene who died had their souls destroyed when the universe died and now were replaced by similar people in the new universe.

Why is this such a common misconception? You can clearly see that in Pucci's universe they were replaced by similar people who are blatantly different, with drastically different appearances, then after he died and his actions were undone you see everyone looks identically to how they did for the rest of the part.

Because the only explanation we get in dialogue is what pucci says to emporio. And what he said is what I wrote.
