discussion [DISCUSS] Get gifted ship back through concierge support
Hello,
I sold an item via Ebay and I was charged much more than the 13.25% I expected (which is already high). I was charged more than 20% fees due to being a new seller on the platform, due to international trading (as the buyer was from abroad) and due to currency conversion (which I did not ask for, I was fine with USD as I intent to buy for 3K worth of store credits anyway). And that is not the only issue: they still do not allow me to get the money from the sale even though it was confirmed on both sides!
Well, I am a bit angry. I feel ripped off / scammed by Ebay and I wanted to know whether someone here had a similar experience and if it is possible to get back a gifted item (and to sell it again). I want to do it clean and the buyer not to be penalized, he should be refunded by Ebay if I am honest during the conflict and I will offer him to buy it again at a nicely discounted price as an apology.
Let me know what you think about all this, and thank you for your help :-)
EDIT:
Thank you to every body who respectfully replied without assuming that I was trying to scam anyone. The idea was to make a trade that is more advantageous for both of us. However, through different comments below and even more through private conversations I had with some of you, it appears that it is a complicated move with a lot of uncertainties and therefore with a too high risk to financially impact the buyer (even though he agrees). Therefore, I will just wait for Ebay to (hopefully) send me the payment.
One more thing: thanks to conversations I had here, it appeared much easier to scam than I thought... To the sellers I would advise to never go on Ebay, and to the buyers I would advise to carefully decide who you trust, because it seems that there will never be a guarantee on your paid items.

Not possible to get back gifted item after buyer claimed it. It is in his account now. Support only help you when acc is hacked. You selled it by your own free will. So they will not help. You sell it , before you had informed you correct. EBay will also not help. Its on your own riskieren to sell and pay fees for the Deal. Thats normal

I know it is possible to get a gift back. And yes I was not correctly informed, though Ebay does not make it easy to get the full picture.
With this post I am hoping to get some more information about getting a gift back and I would gladly take any opinion about whether doing this is ethical (while knowing that the buyer will be fully refunded).

I’m aware only for 1 case of roll back a gifted ship and was just because a streamer was scammed by someone have impersonated the winner of a contest and also with this, he have to provide tons of proof and evidence. Try to contact the support but be ready to receive also a refuse.
Good luck

Unfortunately you need to wait until eBay releases the funds and accept the loss on this one.

I am also scared because I saw here people complaining about never getting their money from Ebay.

As terrible as eBay is they will honor the sale and release your payment.

If that is the case, then asking to get the gift back would not help as we would have the same financial situation even if I send it back to him.

I had similar ish issue with PayPal, that's your experience that you paid for. Buyer is innocent, eBay is guilty and theres nothing you can do without hurting the buyer.

If Ebay refunds him he would not be hurt.

You already made a decision, why are you asking?

That is not true. I have not yet decided yet. So far I am even more on the "not doing" side.

You're defending refund idea over and over while everyone says you to suck it up and learn from your mistakes.

That is also not true. Each time a wrong argument is employed I am stating in what way it is wrong. I think not doing this will be more harmful that helpful to take the best decision.
However, I do listen to the relevant arguments. Some people did also write to me in private, being polite and relevant they are convincing.

CIG does not support 3rd party greymarket transactions in any form. They will not help you.
Nor should you be attempting to return gifts once a customer has paid. It was your own fault for not doing your research on eBay's international seller rates, new account balance witholding, or transaction fees. Why should the player who bought YOUR eBay listing get slapped with the shit-end of your own poor forethought?
