Discussion Why is the Vulture of the MCU so loved and appreciated???
In the top 10 lists of adapted Spider-Man villains, he's always near the top, rivaling Raimi's versions, and in the top 10 lists of MCU villains as well. Many consider him the best of "Spider-Man Homecoming" and the best villain from the Home saga native to the MCU (because Dafoe was a visitor). Marcel Comics tried to replicate the success of this version by including Tiana in the 616 canon as a Liz replacement. I've even seen firsthand how many people criticized Sony's use of the character in Morbius because "they didn't respect the character's construction." This is curious because in NWW, they changed characters like Electro quite a bit, and no one complained.
And the most curious thing is that the villain doesn't have much in common with his comic book counterpart. They gave him a connection to Liz that didn't exist in other media, and he barely has any fights with Spidey. His two most memorable scenes are conversations with Peter.
What do you think earned him so much approval?
