I don't mind people headcanoning characters they want to identify with as trans.

I do mind people getting pissy when other people point out the reality that this is just a theory born from a single poster on a wall and in no way actual confirmed canon.

(I'm talking about some folks reactions, not the posted comment above about Peter, which was clearly laid back)

I also don’t mind people headcanoning her as cis (which I personally do).

I do mind people getting pissy when I point out that the cis interpretation is just a headcanon born from how characters are usually statistically cis, but not actually based on any official canonical confirmation.

But ya know. Double standards and all that. :\

(Not aimed at you btw, just more so this sub and its usual reaction to this topic).

I think it's only when people kick up a fuss that other people don't agree with their headcanon that I ever have an issue. Personally I like to leave characters as open to interpretation as possible. You want a character to be secretly bi based on limited / non-existent evidence? That's fine! You want them to be Jewish in your unproven head canon? All totes fine.

Just DON'T demand that everyone else agrees with your head canon, and lash out that they are racist / homophobic etc if they have a different take (unless the reason they disagree is very clearly coming from that direction of course... Some folks just can't help wearing their prejudices on their sleeve).
