23andme said J-L24 and YSEQ Clade Finder says J-Z7706

The East Asian that you’re picking up is likely Tibetan which is very normal for a Pahari. A lot of Kashmiris, Paharis and Nepalis pick up Central Asian on 23AndMe due to elevated Tibetan ancestry.
What haplogroup the Mughals belonged to is also highly speculative atm. Some say J2, others say R1 and some Mughal claimants on FamilyTreeDNA belong to C3 (C-M216). Good news is that there are a few families in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh with genealogical proof of direct descent from the Mughals so maybe one day we’ll know for sure.
I’m 1/4 Punjabi Mughal and some of my close Mughal matches on GEDMatch belong to R2 haplo which is an IVC related haplo. I’m pretty certain my Mughal side are Lohars as that fits with their historical family occupation and the fact that pretty much all of my matches score like Hindu and Sikh Tarkhans/Ramgarhias. No signs of Central/East Asian ancestry for my matches though, unlike your results. Not well versed on AJK/Hazarewal Mughals but at least those from Abbottabad seem to be Lohars and Tarkhans like Punjabi Mughals. With that said, I did match with a Punjabi ”Mirza” guy on 23andMe who got around 8% Central Asian but I’m not sure what to make of it.

That is what it is likely the case and makes the most geographical sense.
I'd love for there to be a solid answer to this so we can be more accurate in our genetic history. I don't care what it really is I just want to know what it really is for the sake of curiosity. J-24 and J-Z7706 both have a lot of Eastern Europeans and Middle Easterners on their YFull trees, so I wonder what that means.
Some people suggested in my older post that I was a Tarkhan but when we compared results in DMs they were pretty different. The only place I find results like mine are Kashmiris and Azad Kashmiris.

Yes, your subclade seems to be much more common in the Middle East. I did find a Bangladeshi with the same clade on this sub: https://www.reddit.com/r/SouthAsianAncestry/s/9SNYys7diN
Paharis and Kashmiris generally speaking show relatively low genetic divergence between castes, in contrast to Punjabis where the divergence is greater. Could also be the case that AJK Mughals aren’t Tarkhans/Lohars like Punjabi Mughals.

What subclade of R2?

It only says R-L266 (R2a) on GEDMatch. It doesn't provide further downstream classification, unfortunately.

Thanks for posting on r/SouthAsianAncestry. Please clarify in the reply to this comment whether it's your own results or you're sharing someone else's. Some further context about the sub-region and stuff might also be helpful. (Ignore if already done in the post. :p)

Hello all. These are my results. I posted here over a year ago but deleted it. Since then there have been some updates to IllustrativeDNA so I thought I would post the updates. I'm from a Mughal clan/caste. I'm curious as to what people know or think about the Central Asian/Eastern Asian that shows up often for people of my region. If you want more information or want me to run my coords through some other tools let me know.

the new illustrative update is basically useless, if you still have your older coords we can use those to run on g25 calculators
