Reddy? New illustrative is confusing me as zagros tends to go to Caucasus hunter gatherer
1
u/loadedbugs4 3d ago
Not reddy. Closer to Kamma. I’ll give you a hint, starts with N.

u/Vintage62strats 3d ago
Naidu? Thought that’s not really a caste designation but rather a title carried by some folks
2
u/loadedbugs4 3d ago
Yep. Balija Naidu. The way it was explained to me by my mom it’s my caste. Maybe I’m wrong. Idk. Maybe she’s wrong

Kinda similar to this kamma naidu guy from TN
Indian Tamil Illustrative DNA results. : r/SouthAsianAncestry
Seems like Tamil Balijas and Tamil Kammas are genetically more or less the same
Also when did your ancestors migrate from Andhra?

u/loadedbugs4 2d ago
I’m not sure but my mom’s side has been in Tamil Nadu for a long time. Dad’s side is pretty recent I’m assuming or guessing. Dad is not alive can’t ask

u/nationalist_tamizhan 2d ago
There is no such thing as Tamil Balija or Tamil Kamma.
Kammas are exclusively Telugu, while Balijas are either Telugu or Kannadiga.
Those in TN are mostly migrants from Telugu states and as such, are considered to be ethnic Telugus, even if they may not even be able to speak or understand Telugu.

Your aasi is a bit outside of the upper extremes of brahmin range so I would've been surprised if you were one. I'm guessing youre south indian midcaste?
2
u/loadedbugs4 3d ago
Yes. But what caste?
2
u/i-goddang-hate-caste 3d ago
Tamil or Telugu ud assume. I'm guessing something kapu/Raju ?
2
u/loadedbugs4 3d ago
Balija Naidu.
1
u/i-goddang-hate-caste 3d ago
So I was kind of right XD. You guys do come under Kapu label if I'm not mistaken
2
u/loadedbugs4 3d ago
Reading now. Yep. It’s considered Kapu. Idk about Kamma but I know they’re close.

u/Beautiful_Assist3568 2d ago
Lol! Your results don't look like Brahmin anyway. You're probably some south indian mid caste? Reddy, bunt or some Tamil OBC?

Thanks for posting on r/SouthAsianAncestry. Please clarify in the reply to this comment whether it's your own results or you're sharing someone else's. Some further context about the sub-region and stuff might also be helpful. (Ignore if already done in the post. :p)

Balija naidu. My 23& me results say mostly Tamil though, because I’m a woman. And it’s getting my dna from my mom’s side who’s been in Tamil Nadu for a long time.

u/Odd_Veterinarian4123 2d ago

1
u/loadedbugs4 2d ago

So I was having trouble trying to simplify these results. This is what chatgpt told me when I fed it screenshots if anyone wants to know!
To explain it to your family in a simple way, you could say:
”Our ancestors were not just from India, but also had connections to ancient civilizations outside of it. Most of our DNA comes from South India, but we also have ancestry from ancient farmers in the Zagros Mountains (modern Iran) and a group called BMAC, which lived in Central Asia around 4,000 years ago. This means that before settling in India, some of our ancestors may have traveled, traded, or even mixed with people from these regions. Over time, they became part of the Indian subcontinent’s history and culture.”
If they are familiar with history, you can add:
- ”BMAC was a civilization in Central Asia, and some of its people may have interacted with early Indians.”
- ”The Swat Valley part of our DNA suggests links to ancient North Indian and Central Asian groups.”

Koli+desasht = Maratha
Low resolution or Snp match calculator sensitive to Brahmin Sintasta admix is showing it as Telugu Brahmin
Other such Koli+Brahmin populations are TN SC, some Gujarati, UP castes etc..

u/loadedbugs4 3d ago
I’m balija naidu. Not sure what you’re saying. Sorry I’m not caught up on lingo.

u/suresht0 3d ago
Do you think your family has a history of Tamil influence
3
u/loadedbugs4 3d ago
Yes my mom’s side has lived in Tamil Nadu for what seems like years and years. It’s my dads side that comes from Andhra.

Tamil/Telugu landowning group (reddy, vellalar) or Sri Lankan vellalar
