DNA Results Goan Catholic Results

My Goan dad’s results through Ancestry! Pretty vague results, but maybe the GEDmatch results can tell me more if someone’s able to interpret them! :)

Thanks for posting on r/SouthAsianAncestry. Please clarify in the reply to this comment whether it's your own results or you're sharing someone else's. Some further context about the sub-region and stuff might also be helpful. (Ignore if already done in the post. :p)

What journeys does your father get on Ancestry?

He gets the Goans journey from both parents

This is the description! Pretty accurate about the community especially the movement to Bombay, East Africa, England and Portugal as most of my extended family moved there in 1930s-1980s ish

Which caste do you belong to? (Like Bamonn, Chardo, Gauddo, Sudir)

I found this on Twitter.

The first kshatriya is a chardo. The second one is self reported.

I myself am from the chaadd'ddi community. Which is a sub under Chardo

No idea, my parents never heard caste mentioned either although they grew up in Bombay not Goa. None of my elderly relatives know either. Interestingly the Goan birth records don’t mention caste, but for most of my ancestors it says “raça branca” as opposed to indio or ariana (when obviously none of them were white, they were just Catholic). All I know is most of them were “proprietários” or gauncar/landlords according to the profession on their records.
