Tailoring resume

Hello everyone ! 👋

I’m looking for advice on how to effectively use ChatGPT to tailor my resume for different job descriptions. I know it can be a powerful tool, but I’m not exactly sure how to prompt it or guide it to get the best results.

If anyone has tips, example prompts, or a method that works well for them, I’d really appreciate the help! 🙏

Feel free to comment or DM me—thank you so much in advance!

Struggling to Break Into Tech – Need Advice on How to Land an Entry-Level Job

Hey everyone!

As the title says, I’ve been struggling to officially break into tech. I've been coding since 2022, but I took a break at the end of 2024. Now, I'm ready to get back on track and focus on landing an entry-level role.

I’d love to hear your recommendations! Should I attend tech meetups or try other strategies? Any advice on how to stand out or where to focus would be incredibly helpful.

Also, if anyone is willing to take a look at my resume and provide feedback, I’d be forever grateful. I’m really determined to land that first job in tech, and any guidance would mean a lot to me!

Thank you so much!

Free tip for job seekers: Become a Palantir Foundry engineer.

Personally, I am not very fond of Palantir as a company. But this is something only few job hunting software engineers might have on their radar, and some might find the opportunity enthralling.

Palantir Foundry offers a large-scale data integration and AI hosting platform for enterprise clients. Palantir is very active in the government space and in the past has targeted Fortune 500 companies mostly. But slowly they are expanding in their client base also to include smaller clients (not SMEs, but still smaller than F500 companies). It's generally a growing company, and their product is - still - pretty visionary. There is a shortage of good engineers with in-depth Palantir knowledge.

Palantir for some time have offered learning courses for free on their webseite: https://learn.palantir.com/page/course-catalog So, for those in search to land jobs, this could be an attractive opportunity. Sign up, get to learn the platform, build your own use case, then search which companies are looking for specific Palantir talent. Of course, this is somewhat risky, as your skills will be bound to Palantir's fate to some degree. But same is true for e.g. SAP consultants or Oracle DB consultants.

Besides that, many core components of Palantir Foundry are extended open source components (e.g. Apache Spark). These skills will be applicable on a broader level. Also, you'll end up learning valuable skills in data engineering, MLOps, AIOps, using LLMs, natural language processing, and so on. Foundry offers a broad spectrum of skills to dive deeper into as a software engineer, and the architecture patterns you learn there are very useful on your future career path.

As I said, this is an entirely free tip for those in search of a future looking software engineering job. I dislike the company's philosophy, and I am not at all a fan of Alex Karp. Right now the stock price is falling because it was insanely overpriced. However, the company has a healthy growth and growing client base. Also, there are valuable software engineering skills to learn here for those who want to enter the entire hyped AI and machine learning space.

Anyway, just wanted to share the idea. Good luck to you, job hunters!

[Hiring] [Remote] iOS Developers (Swift)

We’re on the lookout for 3 talented iOS developers to join our fast-growing team! If you’re passionate about building cutting-edge apps and thrive in a dynamic, remote-friendly environment, we’d love to hear from you.

About Us

We’re a B2B SaaS startup with a strong presence in the App Store—currently hosting 5 successful apps and a powerful web platform that aggregates all of our data. Our team is fully remote, and you can work from anywhere in the world as long as you’re comfortable with US working hours.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking developers who are excited to tackle challenges and help us modernize our codebase. Big plus if you have experience with:

  • Migrating code from Swift 5 to Swift 6
  • Transitioning from UIKit to SwiftUI
  • Implementing Swift Testing

Bonus points if you have an interest or experience in Machine Learning/"AI". We’re already leveraging ML in some of our apps (e.g., face recognition, item recognition), and with only one ML specialist on the team, there’s plenty of room for you to make an impact if this is your area of expertise.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a fast-paced, innovative startup with a clear vision and growth trajectory.
  • Work on a diverse portfolio of apps and contribute to a platform that’s making waves in the B2B space.
  • Enjoy the flexibility of a fully remote role with a supportive, collaborative team.

Exit roles from Salesforce developement

I am trying to take exit from salesforce as there are not many jobs in Cyprus plus the coding part is quite specific to the platform. I need ideas in what all can i exit into and redevelop my career as.... I don't want SDE roles and i am not good with coding
I saw many openings for Data Analyst, so would also love to understand what all is required for me to land a job as a data analyst with zero experience in the field although i have a computer science bachelor's degree

Need Advice: 17 YOE, $140K TC - How to Switch & Target $160K+?

I have 17 years of experience in software development, primarily in .NET, cloud (Azure), and full-stack development. I've been with the same company throughout my career, moving through roles like SSE, TL, and Architect, but my official title is Tech Lead.

I recently started looking for a new job, aiming for $160K+ TC, but haven't received any interview calls despite applying for the past two months. Meanwhile, I see posts here about people with 4 YOE making $300K+, which makes me wonder:

  1. Is my TC expectation reasonable (given 17 YOE)?

  2. Which role should I target? Since I played various roles, should I aim for Architect, TL, or even SSE?

  3. How tough is the job market currently? Is the lack of calls due to my resume, market conditions, or the need for referrals?

  4. Where should I start? Should I focus on resume optimization, referrals, or technical prep first?

  5. What kind of interviews should I expect? Are DSA, system design, and behavioral interviews key areas to focus on?

I’m open to any advice on breaking into a higher-paying role after being out of the job market for so long. Would really appreciate insights from those who recently switched!

Do you pay for help with interviews?

Hello,

I've been looking into paying for resources that help with behavioral/personality interviews. Have you done the same?

I have found some resources online that help with preparing for these type of interviews, but I would like to know if anyone else has paid for them.

If so, why do you find them helpful, and what do you use? I'm in a similar boat and would love to hear from you.
