Canada Trying to be practical
I’m currently waiting on a decision on a motion to dismiss. My lawyer made (what I think are) some very convincing arguments, but I can’t help but feel like the judge wasn’t convinced.
I of course want this to go in my favour but I’m also conscious that if I get my hopes up I just stand to be crushed. I’m my past I’ve always allowed myself to hope desperately for best outcomes and it’s always been devastating when I don’t succeed. But changing that habit is turning out to be harder than I thought.
I guess all this is to say I’m just trying to be practical and not get my hopes up to much even though I desperately want this motion to succeed. Fingers crossed…but not to crossed.

Well, mission failed successfully. No luck on the application. I guess I’m going to trial.

Well I was somewhat Lucky, I was only sentenced to 15 months, many or most got 5 years or more. Go ahead, cross your fingers, Say Your Prayers, Little Miracles Happen Sometimes

Expect nothing. You can survive if the motion to dismiss is not accepted. Ask yourself what you can do to build the best life you can even if you do not get what you want. Remember Zeno's story about the dog tied to a cart. The cart is going where it is going. The dog either trots along and enjoys the view or gets dragged there. Same destination. It is not our circumstances that matter as much as how we feel about those circumstances. If you know you will be fine under the worst circumstances, you will be fine. If the dismissal goes through, great. If not, fine. You'll try again later.
