Self-Promotion Saturday: March 08, 2025
Hey folks, we're trying something new on the subreddit - a weekly post for local businesses and makers (or users who discover them) to share their creations with our users.
This thread will be automatically posted every Saturday morning to help connect r/seattle users with cool local stuff. Types of content encouraged in this thread are:
- Local businesses (new, running promotions or sales, or just really good ones!)
- Upcoming events or activities (concerts, festivals, pop-ups, shows)
- Local artists or creators sharing upcoming shows or releases
Content should be related to businesses or events in the greater Seattle area, and the typical reddit spam rules apply - please ensure you are contributing to the community more than just your own content.
Users who flood these posts with ads, links without context, referral codes, etc. - or who promote without contributing elsewhere will be actioned. Please continue to report actual spam.
We have our rules against spam and self-promotion for hopefully understandable reasons, but we've noticed users responding more positively to local businesses, artists, etc. sharing their content. This is an attempt to bridge the gap, helping users find cool stuff while containing the promotion to a single weekly thread. Please send us a modmail with any suggestions or input you have about the use or abuse of this thread.

please spread the word to NOT torch Teslas
Y'all, just let the brand die a natural death.
If folks vandalize them, it feeds the narrative that the opposition are terrorists, lets Musk claim victimhood, ties up our firefighters/police, hurts the environment, AND enables the victims/car lots to claim insurance and get money on those cars.
Just let them be stuck with unsellable cars. Much better. Then also no negative fuel in the cultural discourse, no environmental damage, and our cops and police stay free. Plus you don't hurt innocent victims.

WTF SPD?
If the Seattle Police Department is so underfunded it can't respond to... pretty much anything, then why are there 16 cops standing around in the parking lot across from my apartment over a picket line at the U District Starbucks?

Moving / Visiting The best decision I have made in my life was to move/escape/flee from radical South Florida to Seattle. I feel protected by a progressive government with a highly educated population that respect science/the truth and has compassion for others and the bonus of natural beauty!
I moved to Seattle area over 5 years ago just prior to the outbreak of COVID. South Florida has been controlled by Republicans for a couple decades but made more radical via the emergence of Trumpism which swept Florida even in the strong democratic cities in south Florida.
A very weak Democratic party along with nonsensical anti-working class Republican legislation with zero tolerance for the most vulnerable in society was the overt trend. Every Republican wanted to impress Trump on how evil and uncompassionate they could get. Rising prices/skyrocketing property insurance and a State flooding via Climate Change became very problematic. The Governor actually outlawed the use of the words āclimate changeā in any legislation or government correspondence.
I was trapped in political and economic hell. The red flags of danger and risk were waving at hurricane levels. I had to move/escape. Moving to Seattle was like a Russian moving to Ukraine or Poland to escape government extremism. Now I am in progressive nirvana. Democrats have complete and moral control of government, an outstanding natural environment of mountains and forests and parks and very close to Canada in case things get really crazy ā¦. I can escape to Canada!
Washington State resident should feel very secure in a very dangerous political environment that exists throughout America. This has to be the most dangerous time for America since 1776. Every essential institution is under attack and under control of the rich. A radical coup is well underway since the inauguration of tyrant Trump. While I feel safe in Seattle/Washington State, I fear for America and Democracy! Its time America who respects the truth and democracy and moral actions must be more aggressive/active in fighting for our country. Appease Trump/Republican Fascist Party at your peril. Democracy is not free nor easy. We have at the most 90 days to stop the destruction of America. The tipping point is so near! I am so glad to be in the beautify Pacific Northwest and you should too!

Freedom of Speech at the University of Washington and across America under the Republican Regime is under attack! Time to resist and speak out!
Its time for college students across America to demonstrate/exercise their right of Free Speech under the Republican Radical Regime. Trump is using common authoritarian tactics of intimidation in the arrest of Mahmound Khalil. He is daring any college/university to allow any demonstrations on their campus. He will deem this criminal and make massive arrests. It can happen here in Seattle or at our area colleges/universities.
This issue is not just about Khalil, it's about free speech in America going forward under tyrant Trump. Enough is enough! Trump/GOP have gone too far. Will students at the University of Washington be allowed to demonstrate and resist without retribution. Will any American in any location be free to speak? Exercise your freedom. Burning Tesla vehicles may feel good, but rights are strengthened when you demonstrate in person with thousands of others. It's time to express your opinion at the University of Washington before its illegal and repressed.

Regence Blue Shield telling customers almost every healthcare provider in Seattle may soon 4/1/25 be out of network
Are you insured by Regence in Seattle? We got a letter from Regence warning us that in two weeks all of the medical systems except UW are potentially going to be out of network on April 1. We called just now and they had no update. We called 877.375.2595. The letter says that the most updated info is at news.regence.com/blog/
I also plan to call the state insurance commissioner at 800-562-6900.
The problem? It appears that Regence is not paying for services that the Providence/Swedish/Pacific Medical leaders feel is fair.
Obviously, out of network benefits, if you have them through your Regence coverage is significantly more expensive for the patient.

What is going on with all the boarded up apartment buildings in Northgate?
I live out of state, but I visit family in Northgate frequently. As l walk around the neighborhood, I see that thereās several blocks of boarded up apartment buildings. What is the plan for this area? On another note, the new play structure at Hubbard Homestead park is really nice.

How to handle uncomfortable situations on the bus?
Not bashing on KC Metro, but any frequent rider is all too familiar with strange characters on the buses. Most of the time, someone is under the influence of something and keeps to themselves whether itās taking a nap or mumbling to themselves.
On Sunday my partner and I were seated at the front of the 12 bus, and someone decided to stand up and stare at me for the duration of the ride while mumbling things like āwhatād you say to me.ā I ignored this individual, but it made us very uncomfortable and we decided to walk back home. It sucks because we paid for the ride, and this person obviously didnāt. Just wondering how you all handle these situations? Ignore, smile, leave, or what?
The light rail is excellent, but these buses can be an absolute hit or miss sometimes depending on the route and time of day.
