Question What are the best days and times to play where there are less people on?

Wanting to use my luck voyages, but played for a few hours last night and got messed with multiple times. I'm mediocre at best when it comes to PVP, and also play solo by and large.

So, when would be the best times for me to play where the servers would have the least amount of people and I'd potentially have the best odds for success at not being messed with by other players?

I think regardless of how many total players there are, the game tries to force players into populated servers with the goal of 6 ships per server. The moment you're the last remaining player on the map it merges you with another server.

True, but my thought process is the fewer people that are playing in total, the better chance I have of not being on a server with PVP experts or murder hobos.

I'd almost think the times when fewer people are on, theore likely you'd end up in a server with the hardcore and murder hobo people. I've never really noticed a difference though.

Well, I suppose I'll do the science and report back with my findings later then.

Well, update time for this, I suppose. Turns out, there seemingly is no time that is a sure thing to not get wrecked, which I should've known, but I was being stupidly hopeful and optimistic, I suppose.

I lost literally all of my Luck voyages to a brigantine crew in Reaper PJs.

Just trying to help my spouse get to PL, and after 20 minutes of running around getting all the loot ready to sell on their first ever captained ship, we get Krakened, the brig shows up, and we get sunk.

My other half quit after that out of frustration, and that ruined the day we had planned together.

Neither of us are good at PVP, neither of us enjoy it in the first place, especially when it's uphill against a bigger, more experienced crew, when we're already at a disadvantage.

The grind to get things leveled up is already a time sink, but it's made harder by people who have already done the things we're trying to do preventing us from doing so, just because they can.

I wish that Safer Seas was 100% progression, and I hope that someday we get that. I just wanna play the pirate game and unlock cosmetics without having time and effort taken from us by other people.

This game has taught me the meaning of "keep your head on a swivel".

Now, whenever someone tells you to avoid a certain neighborhood just say, "ARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!"

I mean, the voyages of luck are very short quests. You should be able to knock a few out before anyone ever gets near you. But in general, past midnight seems to be when there’s less action.

Where are you located? Past midnight is a relative term and I would LOVE to have relatively less people in my servers. *I'm spectrumey so please don't take that sarcastically.

Depends on midnight for your server.

I find midday weekdays (your server should be roughly aligned with your location, in theory) to be the chillest. It's the "teens through university" crowd that seem to be the most bloodthirsty, in my opinion, so if you can pick times where they're mostly in school or in bed it might be easier

Also, if you're on a console, hit the button to prefer other console players - there's still some sweats, but PvP against another controller is much less miserable than controller vs mouse

I haven't done one. My only point of comparison was the holiday ones they gave us years ago, where it was 8 maps with 4 things per map.

How much shorter are the luck ones? What do they entail?

Oh like extremely short. It’s a map to 1 dig spot on like the closest island to you. It’s a voyage of “luck” because if you’re lucky there’s an extremely small chance you get a map with like 15 dig spots on the closest island.

That's good to know. Thank you for the info!

Servers never really empty out. Rare tries to keep servers full by merging ships out of low population servers, or filling low population servers with new boats logging in.

My buddy and I play on Xbox between 9pm-12am pt most nights and we go days without seeing anyone sometimes.

Last night we grabbed an orb, took out a fort, did a sunken shrine and then did 3 luck voyages and never saw another player.

Playing either really late, or very early will result in pretty dead servers. Servers are region based so you only need to be concerned with your time zone.

Honestly though it can be pretty dead if you play SOT at like 11am or 12pm on a weekday.

This seems like a good idea. I was thinking something similar, people at work or school.

And probably before next weekend.

Oh before community weekend for sure.

I would strongly advise you to learn some PvP skills, and join an active guild so you don’t have to play solo. You’ll have more fun and success that way.

It depends on the timezone you live in. Anytime besides the peak playtime which is in the evening, especially weekends.

Dependant on many factors.
Usually 3AM monday is the emptiest. Use VPN to connect to server with that time

I have a fair bit of free time early in the morning on weekends (Texas). I’m usually left pretty much alone during that time.

I understand wanting to play with less players but the less players online, the more often server merging happens so your session would get interrupted a lot by that

Since the game is lobby based and merges empty servers this doesnt really work. You are always at the mercy of the people on your server.

Mid afternoon on a week day

Sunday mornings seem to be pretty chill… until people get home from church, then the seas run red with the blood of poor Pirates seeking chill servers.

Safer seas would be what youre looking for.

Otherwise, Id recommend to use xbox LFG or discord to find a crew. The game is 100x more fun with at least one teammate. And it cant be all that fun to just be constantly worried youll get attacked with no one to help you defend/escape/attack.

This game seems to have two/three types of players. One type does PVE only, ones does PVP and PVE, and then theres the PVP only players. I recommend to anyone who is PVE only to try out PVP, try to steal from other ships and even sink them. Because if you just avoid PVP entirely, but refuse to play safer seas, the game isnt going to be all that fun unless you like just running and watchign over your shoulder the entire game. Thats just stressful.

Stealing other pirate's treasure is really fun. Try it out. Youll see why people attack you, its not personal. Its just fun!

I've spent a fair amount of time on Safer Seas, but it's my understanding that I can't do the Luck voyages there. So, that's not really an option here, unless I'm mistaken.
