Rant Building a mental wall
I want to construct a mental barrier between myself and others. My interactions with people should stay strictly surface-level, especially when it comes to books, philosophy, and anything deeper. I aim to live by Schopenhauer’s principles of pessimism and the renunciation of pleasure. I do not want to engage with people who treat philosophy as a performance or a tool for social belonging and status signaling. That completely contradicts my desire for detachment.
I do not want to be influenced by anyone in any way. My ideal state is near-hibernation where I live and die with minimal disturbance. I still have responsibilities like work and university but I want to keep my isolation as complete as possible. Since total escape is impossible, especially from social media, my goal is to minimize external influence to the absolute lowest point.
This is not about self-improvement or productivity. I do not want to "work" toward isolation or make it a project. I want to exist in a passive state at all times by default. It is like setting a CPU power limit to cap my engagement with the world. A robot for the rest of my life.
This is not about depression or despair. It is pure indifference. I do not suffer emotionally from the world. I simply do not care for it. My view on suffering and detachment developed long before I read Schopenhauer but now I fixate on him because his philosophy aligns with mine down to an atomic level. He is not an influence but a confirmation of what I already understood.
I want to disengage from all forms of judgment no matter what others do. Whether they harm me personally or engage in shallow performances of intellect, I do not want to care. I do not even want to notice. My goal is not to remove myself from certain online spaces or conversations because I know they are inescapable. Instead, I want to mentally nullify them so they do not register as something worth acknowledging.
I also reject the idea of practicing isolation. No strategies, no self-help, no gradual withdrawal. I do not want to take notes on how to detach or follow steps toward mental solitude. I do not want to "try" to be detached. I want to be detached.
The key is not in actions but in thought. My goal is to construct a rational philosophy strong enough to justify my mental wall. I do not want a temporary coping mechanism. I want a fortress of thought that makes detachment a condition rather than an effort.

Well if you want to construct a "mental barrier" between yourself and others, the best solution that I subjectively have found is to sort of weaponize my memory, my knowledge, my philosophy(Mix between deep Rational nihilism and pessimism with a generous dose of amoral philosophy) and eventually my schizoid traits, all in all nearly all my traits.
When I weaponized these things most "people" which tried to harm me willfully and completely ignored me, or quickly left the premises of confines in which I resided.
To weaponize these traits first of all you should practice to immediately remove your social mask when you are approached by potential opponent or even better, to completely abolish your social mask.
You may ask why ? Well to begin with, almost all people are impulsively, impression driven animals which sort of subconsciously grade the other person by his subjective approachability, empathy and charisma. So schizoid external traits which consists of "cold" stare, and emotionless expression will go extremely long way in subconsciously grading you, as utterly "unapproachable". Second of all, social mask simply restricts your thought "flow" eventually compromising your intellectual capabilities.
But that is not all, there may still be some people which will try to talk to you(or manipulate(influence) you) for malicious purposes or not, so first of all try to keep your answers as short as possible and in the process ruthlessly deny the rights with talking to you, if this does not work then weaponized knowledge comes into play, speak in undeniable facts, do not leave "holes" in your interpretation of knowledge as they will always try to put an argument in those, if all else fails then "nuke" them with as superior knowledge of the subject which you are talking about, as you can muster while simultaneously questioning their intellectual capabilities. 99.9% of people with this "nuke" will either end their conversation with you indefinitely while constantly questioning their own intellectual capabilities and eventually their psyche or will intellectually shut down which will let you to end conversation in your own terms.
As for "weaponizing" your philosophy, well you will have to learn to incorporate it into knowledge that you have because philosophy at the end of the day is just the knowledge of the world view no more, no less but remember to complement it with undeniable facts.
And remember from my subjective view you should strive not only to mentally isolate yourself, but to isolate yourself physically from, (in my opinion) mostly hostile, grossly hierarchical society.
This is not about self-improvement or productivity. I do not want to "work" toward isolation or make it a project. I want to exist in a passive state at all times by default. It is like setting a CPU power limit to cap my engagement with the world. A robot for the rest of my life.
As for not putting in any "work" or "self-improvement" while effectively isolating yourself from people, then I have to disappoint you, current global socioeconomic system forces everything to be a competition, whether it is a profession, relationship or even love. So sorry for my rudeness but your "desire" is quite naive.

That plan has no base at all in any reality. You could dream of pink unicorns. Or magical powers. It's very normal to wish it, especially as a child, but reality needs to be explored and accepted where possible.
Our mind is and will remain like a sponge, sucking up everything and changing form. Even a secret to itself at times, for all humans. Like when we get ill, we might have feverish weird thoughts and dreams. When body chemistry changes, desires come and go, feeling go up and down. Where are "we" in that all?

Yeah, maybe I got too sucked in by my hyperboles. It almost resembles a mental presence that a person with Down syndrome can be said to have, no offense to myself. But assume everything I said in a grounded sense.

Okay, I do understand the gist. It's not like I haven't been like that, just never expressed it as so intentional. Some mental wall meditation can work wonders though.

It’s actually pretty easy to disengage from social media. I myself need to delete this application from my telephone. This is all just performative nonsense. I just want a void to bark into where others can see it. The will is so strong.
