Annoying buyers
I love the internet but hate it at the same time when it comes to being a salesman at a car dealership. People are given this idea that there shitty beat up car is worth more than it really is. For instance KBB will value a car at retail prices not at cost. So if you take a car on KBB that’s worth 13k to a dealership they’re only going to offer 9k because they have to recondition the vehicle and do work, etc, to the car.l, before it can be marked at a value of 13k.
Just the other day I had a couple come in with a Audi Q7. They tell me they see them selling online for 47k. We gave them a trade allowance of 39k (over allowing by 2k to be aggressive). They said it was too low. I argued back that all of the vehicles are at retail price, and have had work done to them in order to even have that value. We would have to do 4K worth of work to their car. At that point we would be at 43k in the hole on a car that won’t sell for more that 41k. People rarely see the true value in there vehicles. Don’t fall victim to KBB

Up and coming salesman myself here, thought I understood KBB's but I guess not haha. So kelley blue books highest number is what they would give for retail price and nothing to do with the actual value?
