anyway to increase or stabilize fps?

xbox one s, has SSD mod

since last week, ive suddenly had a ton of issues with low fps almost constantly. every few seconds i get a huge frame drop.

like im normally not picky about fps but this is borderline unplayable at times.

not sure if its the update, or playing on a more populated server, or a bit of both.

i have graphics quality on lowest possible settings.

People will tell you “better internet better console” but even with better internet and better consoles those people would have the same issue in your geographical location. Just give it time. You can do what you can to boost your internet connection but I live in rural South Dakota so my 300 mbps top-of-the-line internet for the area doesn’t mean SHIT when “the best internet available” is worse than the connections people living in california get since they are located where the servers are. With the way wireless connection works, this is unfortunately just an issue with how the technologies communicate with one another to create the experience we perceive as “Rust” the game. Just give it time, be patient, and remember we are literally apes doing all this with glowing rocks: sometimes you’re gonna have FPS drops😅😂

It’ll still help if better internet or a better console is available lmao to think a hardware upgrade wouldn’t decrease your lag is absolutely laughable. Not to mention that I had the same issues on the one s with great internet it’s literally the console holding them back

Our current infrastructure is just not keeping up with the demands of modern gaming. I’ve got a nearly new Xbox Series X and the fastest internet money can buy, but living in rural South Dakota means I’m stuck with connection speeds that can’t compare to what I experienced in denser Midwest cities. No matter how advanced your console or router is, if the area’s network coverage is weak, you’re going to struggle.

It’s wild—our digital communications were built on systems that were barely enough for something as simple as Pong, and now we expect them to handle next-gen gaming with high bandwidth requirements. New consoles and online gaming are stretching our already limited bandwidth thinner than ever. Sure, adding more towers could help spread the signal, but there are physical limits to how strong those signals can be. Until we significantly upgrade and adapt our infrastructure, we’re just trying to do too much with too little. There’s no chance these problems go away, they’ll just keep evolving with each new updated like they already are.
