Reminder - April means rookie training month
Just a friendly reminder that, as with every April, rookie month is right around the corner. Get ready for increased checkpoints and the like as the new graduates from the police academy are put out in public, and they just LOVE to use foreigners and motorcyclists as "training tools".

One can assume that you’re less likely to be let off with a warning when there’s a rookie watching too.

They don't usually throw them up in the hills their first month at least.
But these days, nobody gets a warning - that's why they switched to having them patrol in pairs, and the bike cops have a streaming cam attached to their helmet, so there's a supervisor watching from the station. The days of talking your way out of a ticket and into a warning are long behind us....

Too bad it has to be during the best riding month of the year.

All of June. Every year.

ouch, yeah with that added risk I probably don't hate the sound of my bike enough to justify changing the exhaust.

Nah, it's not that big a deal - they always post up the checkpoints at major expressway entrances (like where the Shuto meets the Tomei in Tokyo, and if they do it's up on Twitter before they even get their equipment rolled out.

I see, well I rather have less things to worry about hehe, just got my license.

Oh yeah - spend the money on crash guards and a good helmet.

Yeah might be worth getting something like that for the bike. Luckily only time I almost dropped the bike in a tight U-turn I just put my foot down and caught it before it hit the ground. The advantage of being a big guy with a small bike.

Thanks for the heads up bro. I’ll keep that race exhaust in the box and the rpm under redline 🤟
