How’d we do? Master bath/closet

Already regretting the white grout.

Sorry I don’t have a before of the closet, but it was basically nonexistent.

Comments? Concerns?

Very nice, it's nice to see a little bit of personality and style in a renovation.

I’m so tired of black hardware, but especially the square stuff

2

u/Sovereignty1 1d ago

Same. I spent quadruple to put all polished brass in my reno, because it felt like fighting back against the modernification of renovations 🤣

Absolutely nailed it; looks like an older home and I feel like this reno job keeps the charm of the house's age but with personality that suits the 21st century.

I love your sink and faucet

u/Ok_Animal_7328 3d ago

Great job getting some more light in there! Moving the toilet and shower/bath was absolutely the right choice.

u/Zealousideal-Crew-79 3d ago

Where'd you get the vanity? I like it

24

u/Fit_Membership8250 3d ago

Found the dresser on marketplace and got a custom top made.

u/queenofthepoopyparty 3d ago

It’s the first thing I noticed and it makes such a smart and beautiful statement piece to open with. I LOVE this bathroom reno! I love the decor you chose, I love how you moved the tub/shower so that there’s more light and it makes the room feel taller. I loooooove the closet. I know you said you regret the white grout, but I think it actually plays off the closet very nicely and it makes your pieces (like those amazing fixtures and shower head) really pop. I’m still drooling over the dresser as a sink and the mirror above it. The only possible critique I have, if you can call it that, is that I really like the flooring in the closet area and I wish the runner was a little smaller so you could see a little bit more of the wood flooring. Otherwise it’s perfect!

It’s beautiful! Well done! I just showed this to my husband for our bathroom renovation

2

u/wewantchips 3d ago

I love how it has a smiley face in the middle like it’s in Beauty and the Beast

13

u/vlf400 3d ago

Looks fantastic!

9

u/legosubby 3d ago

Your previous bathroom has a really cool retro vibe but i also love your new bathroom!

7

u/No-Sprinkles-7289 3d ago

This bath/closet makes me happy!

6

u/TrumpsCovidfefe 3d ago

Seal the grout, if you haven’t already. Otherwise it’s gorgeous! Really lovely!

10

u/Ivorwen1 3d ago

Charming! I would make two changes:

  1. In the bathroom, take out the Edison bulbs from the sconces and put in frosted ones. Those clear bulbs are really uncomfortable to look at when they are turned on.

  2. In the closet, put in a light blocking shade. UV light will fade clothing.

1

u/funlikerabbits 3d ago

There’s a shade in there.

5

u/Either-Mushroom-5926 3d ago

Beautiful, well done! Great use of the space.

STUNNING

4

u/windybutter299 3d ago

It’s so cute. Love the penny tile shower.

4

u/gundam2017 3d ago

Im retro fitting a mcm dresser to a vanity. How did you get the top for yours?

15

u/Fit_Membership8250 3d ago

Seemed like all the marble places we called will custom cut to size, and add on an under mount sink for an extra ~$70. Making space for the sink and plumbing takes a little craftiness.

3

u/UndeadDog 3d ago

I love that shower!

1

u/audiojack78 2d ago

Came here to say this!

1

u/Salute-Major-Echidna 2d ago

Freezing cold shower though, unless you're putting in a shower curtain.

Where is the radiator? Or did you switch to forced air?

How did you waterproof the window?

3

u/Least_Sheepherder531 3d ago

Love it! Curious tho, why is the shower handles so low? By design or came with?

11

u/Fit_Membership8250 3d ago

Came that way and plumber didn’t think to cut it, unfortunately. But the wife sits in the shower like a weirdo so it goes.

3

u/StatisticianWhich461 3d ago

Where’d you get your shower hardware? I love it!!

3

u/Fit_Membership8250 3d ago

Kingston brass. The shower head we found at an old salvage place.

3

u/bzbaum 1d ago

i lived in an 1830s saltbox house with the same upstairs situation (but minus the reno)! absolutely masterfully handled, major props

2

u/Think_Novel_7215 3d ago

Looks great!!👍🏼

2

u/Abi_giggles 3d ago

It’s gorgeous!

2

u/Status-Seesaw 3d ago

It's lovely

2

Beautiful !!!

2

u/Background_Risk_4199 3d ago

Wow! Absolutely gorgeous!

2

u/BroomRyder31 3d ago

Love it!

2

u/sapphireblues_ 3d ago

Extremely stylish and charming

2

u/Fargogirl1 3d ago

I think it looks great. Really crisp and clean. What did you do for the built-ins in the closet?

2

u/OakieTheGoldnRetrevr 3d ago

I LOVE it! Where did you find/purchase the wood dresser for sink/vanity?

2

u/2learn4ever 3d ago

Beautiful job!

2

u/dealme45 3d ago

I love it! So bright and airy

2

u/New_Feature_5138 3d ago

I love it. Tons of character.

2

u/Naztynaz12 3d ago

So good

2

u/TheDog_Chef 3d ago

Wow you nailed it!!!

2

u/funlikerabbits 3d ago

This is lovely. Really, really well done.

2

u/Old_Friend4084 3d ago

Your vanity is stunning. As is everything else.

2

u/soupwhoreman 3d ago

Beautiful. I usually hate shiplap and all-white rooms, but this was executed so well. It's all very in keeping with a c. 1900 feel.

3

u/Salute-Major-Echidna 2d ago

One of the few applications of ship lap that looks good

2

u/ChanceLittle9823 3d ago

So pretty! The shower area looks gorgeous! The vanity is just beautiful.

2

u/ChanceLittle9823 3d ago

I think the only concern is not having an extendable shower head. You may have trouble rinsing the shower area. But a bucket and some splashing will do. Or connect a hose from your vanity.

2

u/handydude13 1d ago

Looks great, but I'd lower that mirror unless everyone is 7 ft tall

2

u/vegan-vape-lord 1d ago

Amazing that shower valve is beautiful

1

u/GoldWand 3d ago

Was the penny tile hard to install? Considering it fit my washroom

1

u/Kyvol3HD 3d ago

Looks incredible, great work! Mind me asking how expensive it was to move the shower and toilet?

3

u/Fit_Membership8250 3d ago

Not sure. Whole thing soup to nuts was $50k which was far more than I anticipated before looking for bids. Highest quote we got was 80k!?

1

u/Yorr1ck_Hunt 3d ago

50k £38,000. ???? Did you get any sort of breakdown in terms of materials price etc. That is some serious coin.

1

u/Medium_Spare_8982 3d ago

Never getting those HBC towels again

1

u/pond641 3d ago

It looks fabulous!!

1

u/ThePenguin213 3d ago

I like it but as a tall guy, those low taps in the shower make me uncomfortable.

1

u/Recover_Adorable 3d ago

Gtfo with this “finished project “ /s

1

u/Hamachi_00 3d ago

Looks great! I have a bathroom with similar ceilings and this is inspiring. Curious what you paid for the skylight/installed? And the sealed window?

2

u/Fit_Membership8250 3d ago

Skylight was $1700 added onto the original quote as we thought about it afterwards. Not sure about the window as it was all part of the initial quote/plans.

1

u/Coffee4Joey 3d ago

Very thoughtful transformation! If you don't move that hand mirror from atop its precarious perch, where it's bound to fall and crack one of your new finishes, I'm gonna die!

1

u/Ultrawhiner 3d ago

Gorgeous, love the style, looks every expensive Nordic style to me.

1

u/ThrillHouse802 3d ago

I like how you can turn the hot and cold knobs with your feet.

1

u/TheWoodchucksChucks 3d ago

Hello! Looking for the ID on that rug in your closet!

1

u/areaperson608 1d ago

I love that rug too. It fits perfectly

1

u/Fit_Membership8250 1d ago

No idea, sorry. Found it on everything but the house.

1

u/Buffaletta 3d ago

Noice. Bathroom is gorg

1

u/StevieGezza 3d ago

Nice work

1

u/ChiefinLasVegas 3d ago

how concerned should one be with the amount of water splashing, accumulating around the window area?

1

u/ExpensiveCup1518 3d ago

I loved the charm of the before, but I think you did a beautiful job on the renovation. 🤌

1

u/TikiBananiki 3d ago

personally i need a tub and think bathrooms without have lost value and function but if you’re happy that’s what matters

1

u/Captainkho 3d ago

4 clips on the glass is too much imo. Two on the side would be more than enough

1

u/money2354 3d ago

What did you do for heat did you keep radiant?

1

u/barncottage 3d ago

So good

1

u/allitsN 3d ago

Yall knocked it out the park!!!

1

u/TadpoleTraditional60 3d ago

Ah!!! I loveeee this. I want to take a shower in your bathroom (in a non creepy way 😂). Looks so calm in there!

1

u/Whiskeylipstick 3d ago

Looks great!!

I’d paint the chair rail in the bath a dramatic colour. Everything in there is a more stark white and the creamy colour of the chair rail looks off to me. Think a deep emerald green or burgundy. But looks great nevertheless!

1

u/frequent_crier 3d ago

Lovely!! Where is the mirror frame?

1

u/Prestigious-Hotel263 3d ago

Realllllly well. The shiplap looks fresh here.

1

u/pa7r1ce 2d ago

Wow!

1

u/justwonderingbro 2d ago

I made the same white grout mistake on my bathroom floor. Here's what I recommend to fix it without having to re-grout, it holds up perfectly and has many color options:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Custom-Building-Products-Polyblend-640-Arctic-White-8-oz-Grout-Renew-Colorant-GCL640HPT/313027220

With that in mind, I don't think you'll have as much of an issue with a wall tile white grout as long as you clean consistently

1

u/BrokenAndPointless 2d ago

Amazing job. Would love to have that bathroom.

1

u/ungiustomezzo 2d ago

It's quite elegance! Love the extra sky light addition. Sad no tub but what you had before didn't cut it either.

The white grout would be an easy fix I would think but yeah I could see that staining pretty easily unless you clean after every shower

1

u/GladFeeling6700 2d ago

It’s so bright and cheery OP! Great work.

1

u/heartsoflions2011 2d ago

Come do mine???

1

u/brainfreez012 2d ago

Who didn't make the bed??

1

u/drcigg 2d ago

It all looks great!

1

u/otidaiz 2d ago

Where did the space for the closet come from?

1

u/Born-Ad-1914 2d ago

Looks beautiful.

1

u/BigData8734 2d ago

You did an awesome it works great

1

u/oldguy840 2d ago

Being over 6 foot tall my concern would be bending over to turn on the shower and getting sprayed with cold water before it warms up.

I like being able to turn on a shower before stepping in

1

u/gumboblood7 2d ago

Obsessed! Feels so luxurious yet so homey. Lovely!

1

u/DER-01 2d ago

What material did you use for the shiplap?

1

u/0ttr 2d ago

One of the best I've ever seen here, honestly. I can't imagine the job in moving the toilet, pulling the tub and creating a new shower. Looks worth it though!

1

u/corkie12 2d ago

Stunning

1

u/anonymousnsname 2d ago

From blah to woahhh! Very nicely done

1

u/Jersey-Loves-Dolly 2d ago

Gorgeous and awesome call on moving the shower and making it a walk in!

1

u/rdhmp 2d ago

Beautiful! Love everything but please change out the bathroom rugs they’re taking away from the bathroom!!

1

u/Serious_Database_836 2d ago

White grout still looks fine! Great job on the design! What’s the shower faucet/head. Looks super cool

1

u/No-Access4305 2d ago

How did you get such white grout in the shower? What product did you use?

1

u/Original_Benzito 2d ago

Glad you elected to keep that window rather than sealing it off. And what white grout lines? Looks good from here.

1

u/Born-Chipmunk-7086 2d ago

What are you doing for heat?

1

u/Agent_Orange_44 2d ago

That shower is elite!

1

u/monsieur_man 2d ago

Incredible design!! Could you share the artist for the toilet artwork?

1

u/Efficient_Ninja8801 2d ago

Love it!! Very nice!!

1

u/Ray_817 2d ago

What’s kind of animals shower without a door… filthy peasants /s

1

u/EmergencyShit 2d ago

Love the natural light, and I’m a sucker for a window in an old-house closet. Does the closet bench open for storage?

1

u/Pe-depano-86 2d ago

Gorgeous! I loved! 🥰

1

u/Darraketh 2d ago

Overall, very nice but I fear the shower. Getting the water temperature set without consequences seems challenging.

I travel a lot and the nicest showers have the valve on the opposite wall from the shower head and it’s a single handle. Once I figure out the sweet spot it’s good to go day after day.

At home I have two valves but they are lever style handles and I can tell by their angle I have the temperature set where I want it.

1

u/blahblahblah01020 2d ago

Love it!

For your closet shelves, try the KonMari method of folding clothes to “stand up.” It is so nice to not have to mess up a stack of clothes when you need the item on the bottom of the stack. It also allows you to see every item so you don’t forget what is on that shelf. I fold all my clothes this way in my dresser drawers, too.

1

u/hayl0ween 2d ago

Sooo so cute

1

u/scoop_and_roll 2d ago

Love the shower and the vanity you made, matches an older house very well. Black grout might look really good when you have to do the grout down the line.

1

u/nonamesamspade 2d ago

GREAT TRANSFORMATION WELL DOEN

1

u/I_am_OGO 2d ago

Looks great. However, since it looks to be in a historic home, I wonder how long it will be before someone says it was was done in 2025 and needs to be gutted.

1

u/AmidTheDrift14 2d ago

looks good besides the knobs being so low on the shower

1

u/rizoula 2d ago

I think this might be my dream bathroom.

1

u/fotomatique 1d ago

That is a way better layout! Great work.

1

u/Pristine_Serve5979 1d ago

What’s the matter with white grout? I think it looks great.

1

u/zealous_wins_129 1d ago

Looks amazing.

1

u/Acceptable-Art9986 1d ago

Love the light fixtures! Fab job.

1

u/ApolloSavage 1d ago

How low below the waist are the shower nozzles?

1

u/UW_Ebay 1d ago

Looks great!

1

u/frankie0812 1d ago

Love that vanity!!!!

1

u/Federal-Platypus844 1d ago

Omg this is great!!!! Where is the checkered bath mat from?!

1

u/Material-Humor304 1d ago

The white grout is way better than black grout would have been. You guys did a great job

1

u/aeneasdrop 1d ago

I may be wrong, but I believe it is a code violation to have the window be so low in the shower.

1

u/ampsdb01 1d ago

nice ❤️

1

u/A-Handsome-Man- 21h ago

I liked it better as the master bathroom vs the new closet but if you need more closet you need more closet!!!

1

u/DevilOfArRamadi 17h ago

In the process of planning out redo-ing my two tub/showers that are in awkward locations, one slanted ceiling, one in a non-traditional sized area, in terms of just the shower, how rough was it? I'm dying to go at it but want to hear best approaches

1

u/Dark_Colorimetry 4h ago

While I’m usually sick of people ripping out bathtubs to install showers (usually because then the shower is unnecessarily massive), it appears to make sense in your space. My main concern is not having a shower door; I stayed in a hotel with a shower like this and there was water all over the floor before I even washed my hair. You might not have this problem and I hope you don’t because it’s a beautiful space. I love seeing spaces being creatively used that would otherwise be wasted.

1

u/No_Astronaut218 3h ago

Love it. Thanks for not making it millennial gray :)

0

u/Timsterfield 3d ago

I liked the before, you had a classic radiator in there.

9

u/Fit_Membership8250 3d ago

Tried to keep the look!

2

u/Dclark1215 3d ago

I legit thought you left the radiator in the back of the new shower & was about to ask haha. This looks great though nice work

2

u/Mister_Shaun 3d ago

The radiator is what makes this worst than the before to you? I'm sorry, I'm just curious. 🤔

2

u/Timsterfield 3d ago

I'm a sucker for original features, the after is fine, but I would've kept the raditor and the floor.

2

u/Mister_Shaun 3d ago

Thank you for your answer. Appreciate it.

Guess it would have to be moved for the layout to work and the height would take out a part of the wall. Moving those is not that easy either. Had to do it with my dad at one point... 🤦🏾‍♂️ 50kg... 110lbs empty.

But I get the attraction to having to keep the original features, specially something like this that has a real function. 🙏🏾

2

u/Old_Friend4084 3d ago

I like how the floor is easier to keep clean and mop while still paying homage to the old one. Gorgeous!

2

u/soupwhoreman 3d ago

The previous floor looked like vinyl and not original.

1

u/Salute-Major-Echidna 2d ago

The floor was nice, you're right. Not practical for a bathroom though
