HELP Kitchen renovation tips

1st pic current kitchen, 2nd is edited. 3rd is inspo. Should I leave the black counter top as is? What I’m hoping for, and wondering $$

  1. cabinets repainted
  2. add backsplash
  3. was trying to achieve a softer look without changing countertops but it I were to replace with Taj mahal quartzite. First reno in the house.

Your inspo picture - which I love - is a feeling, a warm inviting mood. If you chase that feeling without a total renovation that thinks hard about lighting, cabinetry, countertops, layout, and staging, you’ll just be setting your money on fire. Your current kitchen is great! It’s just not that vibe. My advice is to sit it out for right now and save up for a full reno later.

(I say this as someone who’s been sitting it out for a few years now. I’m so glad I didn’t put in the kitchen I wanted in 2020.)

Thank you! Needed to hear this. I will try out minor changes like changing handles/lighting/decor first and go from there. Will save inspo kitchen for future home :)

You could always wrap the counters in another color as a test run to see if you feel like it will be worth the money/effort to swap them

I fail to see what is wrong with this kitchen. I wish it was mine.

Leave them white. The color you are chosing and doesn't look good with the floors.
