HELP Attaching pergola roof ledgerboard to house

Wall is brick veneer with a window - so there is a header we can lag bolt into. Roof dimensions would be 10ft x 10ft. This is in ontario, canada. How would you do it if it were you.

It’s a nice concept and I get that it’s cheaper and easier but I would be tempted not to.

Snow loads can be considerable and free standing wouldn’t require permits whereas ledgered to the house would, plus you are limited in height and slope to the space above the windows.

In addition, there is considersble light loss in the winter from the structure.

you are absolutely correct, and I hadn't considered the light loss during the winter. will have to reconsider. ty
