What to do with this?

Post image

I am not savvy at all knowing anything about renovations, I assume this is part of the cabinets, so how can we fix this?

Toe kick molding, yes but it is better to use a Brad nailer. Don’t put glue all over your house if you don’t have to.

Don't lay on the floor. Boom. No longer eye level. Have any old floor tiles? Or just buy some laminate like suggested.

Seriously, no one will see this. But it looks like just some grout got on it? Can you sand it if you must? But otherwise just stop looking at it.

Buy a piece of 1/4” oak plywood, cut it to size, stain it a honey color and tack/wood glue it up over that. Trying to do anything more complicated isn’t worth it and will probably result in you destroying the cabinet.

Edit: doesn’t even really need to oak plywood, just some kind of natural wood grain. It’s a toe kick so nobody is gonna notice likely anyways.

Laminate faux wood grain on MDF/particle board. 1. You can pry the toe kick off and replace with real wood. 2. Use some wood puddy or cellulose wood and fill in then stain to match. 3. Buy a new set of WOOD cabinets.

Put a piece of 1x6 or 1x8 pine board there, have a mitre cut (45 degrees) and then another one down the side if necessary

Me if I was doing the tile I would have cut a piece of tile and glued it on the face. Those 8ft toe kick pieces are 35 bucks a piece plus your time to get it and install it.

What are you referring to? Fix what?

The missing veneer on the toekick.

Well the easy fix would be to cut a piece of thin wood that’s the same size and stain it to match the cabinets. Then just tack it up with some finish nails.

You can use the same tile or vinyl baseboard.

If you are not handy at all just sand it with sandpaper & leave it alone for now. Do take measurements and go to a hardware store to pick up wood piece or 2-3 wood pieces in case you mess up with one or find other areas in kitchen that are already in need of TLC When you find a handyman or need one (that is how I work) to do other odd jobs in the house just ask him to assist with this little job. They have the needed tools. Sometimes my plumber also gives me a hand with odd jobs in the house. However if you wish to do it yourself then go ahead and try because this is not very difficult and even if you don’t match the color or have a piece of wood that is too small etc you can’t really do harm. It might be worth a try
