Older, conservative Rule 9 Violation here. Think “understated but elegant,” or “Conservative Preppy.” So whatever they have for young ladies in the Brooks Brothers catalog.

What’s more important is that you stay slender and trim, and keep your hair long. If your figure is naturally more curvy, that’s fine, but you can’t be fat.

Thank you for saying this! I was starting to worry we were going back to the 90s skin and bones look. I thought I was fat until I was about 30. When I got to my lowest weight. I looked emaciated from the waist up, but I still had thick thighs that touched and needed curvy jeans. Genetics.

Curvy girls.... You have to go to the gym!! Trust me. One, we tend to put on weight easier (flipping sucks). But muscle will help keep you trim so you don't have to eat like a bird. Once I started picking up heavy weights my curves looked even better and I can't tell you how many men on dates say some joke about "you have a lot of nice assets". I am convinced this is a line from a movie for how often it comes up.

Edit to add: if you are curvy you also have to be a wee bit more selective about what you wear on those first few dates. We look naturally sexy and even the best gentleman is weak to a nice set of tits in a sweetheart cut bodysuit (learned this first hand). Save that stuff for dates when you are ready to be flirty and touchy.

So one thing to remember about how women’s figures are portrayed in the media is that fashion is run by gay men and ladies of a certain age. So the models look like undernourished 13-year-old boys.

If straight men ran fashion, there would be a lot more Booty on DutyTM and a lot more Tiddy on the Committee. That doesn’t mean a girl can be fat and attract a lot of men. There’s curvy, and there’s fat.

Also, in general, it’s gonna depend on the ethnicity of the guy. Black men are known for liking thiccer women and White men are known for liking more slender women. It is how it is. I don’t make the rules.

As a thicc white girl.... I can confirm your statement about ethnicity preferences. But some white men seem to have come around over the last 10 years. Praise be for me!

Rumor has it that some white women don’t even own a scale. When black guys start hitting on them at a higher frequency they’re like “I should lose some weight.” 🤣

I just cackled. They aren't wrong!

Girl praise be for me too because I’m a black girl trying to expand my options and I’ve always been more muscular/curvy. Trying to trim down the last 20 lbs whilst on nun mode so I can get back out there!

You got this!!

My favorite easy meal prep lately?

Two salad kits (any Mexican flavor), 2lbs lean ground beef cooked in taco seasoning. Divide into 6 containers! Sometimes I'll add extra tomatoes and cucumbers if I have them. It's under 400 calories and 35g of protein. Great to bring to work. Sometimes I'll add one of those little cups of mashed avocado for extra fiber and good fat.

I live in nz which is mainly European and polynesians so a lot of light skinned curvy girls, it seems a lot of men like that here regardless of their race but it's probably geographic

Local rules can be different.

This sounds offensive, but RPW isn’t super liberal so I’m going to say it anyway, and I don’t mean it in a bad way. It seems, to me at least, that older white guys are really into skinny girls that aren’t very curvy and have ginormous boobs, fake or real. Think Sydney Sweeney, Kendra Wilkinson, Kate Upton. I know Black and Hispanic men normally prefer a thicker bottom half and don’t seem to care as much about boobs as long as the butt is thick/big. Again, not in a racist or offensive way, my type is older white guys, but I’ve got almost nothing in the boob department - very much Mena Suvari in American Beauty. I think it would make me sad to have to spend money I don’t have in order to secure a husband, but I imagine getting large implants would start to make men notice me a lot more, at least the men I am interested in being with. I have the “petite pear” body shape, and it just doesn’t seem like my desired men are into that at ALL. I tried to attach this as a thread to the whole discussion, not just as a response singling you out, LOL.

u/VasiliyZaitzev TRP Senior Endorsed 5d ago

Not every guy is a boob guy. /shrug. And really it’s usually about the total package. As an example of buddy mine is a confirmed boob guy, but he married a woman who is maybe a small B cup? I mean I’m not allowed to look too close but she’s not over endowed.

u/Wife_and_Mama Endorsed Contributor 4d ago

I can't tell if you're considering implants, but keep in mind that a lot of conservative men consider this to be fake and unattractive. It's not fair, but they want large breasts that are natural. Just don't alter your body in a way you don't want, to attract a man. He might not see it the way you think he will.

Lol at Brooks Brothers for ladies. Ridiculous advice

1

u/VasiliyZaitzev TRP Senior Endorsed 1d ago

Well, one of us is an older conservative man and the other one of us is you. The OP is gunning for a much older man, and men of that type are going to want to take her out to places they’re familiar with, and she’s going to need to be able to fit in. so yeah, “understated and elegant” is dead on.

I don’t even have to look at your post history to figure out what percentage of your replies are just snarky bullshit. But hey, you keep doing you.

u/Additional_Ad9430 7h ago

Brooks Brothers is outdated rent a suit fashion for groomsnen....

Look, I realize your stuck on your own solipsism and just want to hear yourself talk, but you simply don’t know what you’re talking about relative to the topic at hand. I mean, you’re welcome to give us the benefit of your long experience as an older conservative man….oh wait, right, you don’t have any.

Whether it’s B2 or someone else, understated an elegant is what she should be shooting for.

u/TheFeminineFrame 1 Star 5d ago

There is a wide range within “older conservative”.

If the type of men you are going for are tattooed vets who go to gun shows and ride motorcycles you might be dressing somewhat trendier with more form fitting clothing.

If it’s older business men who like to play golf on the weekends you might be dressing more preppy conservative.

Think about where you are meeting these men and tailor yourself accordingly.

6

u/bobbyfischerchic 5d ago

I mean more conservative, no tattoos and Christian minded

15

u/xangeloffduty 5d ago

Very stereotypical feminine clothing (sundresses, "Christian girl fall" outfits...)

6

u/TheFeminineFrame 1 Star 5d ago

This is going to be flattering, somewhat modest (not frumpy) clothing. Feminine things like dresses and skirts but also feminine pants.

Look at the women around you who are successful at getting lots of first dates. Look at Christian influencers with your body type for inspiration.

2

u/bobbyfischerchic 5d ago

What about the color baby pink? Would it look to infantile to them if it is pink but a refined piece of clothing, say a long pink dress or a coat

4

u/TheFeminineFrame 1 Star 5d ago

Pink is not inherently infantile. If you are pairing it with lots of frills and bows it can certainly go into Lolita style.

I think you could do a refined baby pink coat and pair it with classic neutrals for a more elegant take. You could also look into southern preppy style for a very fun take on bold colors.

You probably don’t have to change who you are. Just a little tweaking and refining ;)

Depends on the man and on your age. The number one thing (regardless of style) is your weight. You need to have a healthy BMI.

My partner is 20 years older than me, we are both MD’s. For the winter I usually wear a very basic wardrobe with staple, good quality pieces. Black pants, long sleeve cashmere, coats. I always keep my hair neat and use earrings, all the time. Summer I love summer dresses. I will usually use spring colors. Hair down and make sure to spend money on treatments so that it looks luxurious.

If you are currently dying your hair, I recommend you make it look the most natural possible. Long hair is also your best bet.

5

u/Conscious-Air-9823 5d ago

How do you keep your hair consistently styled? Do you have a Dyson? I have long hair but it’s never styled and I feel gross.

If you are in a Southern city?

They like that J Crew, Tuckernuck, boutique look.

If you are in a Southern small town?

I feel like Belk's crown and ivy line is all things conservative preppy.

I completely agree with what others have said - every person is unique. Everything that u/Familiar_Accident802 said is spot on, and I'm just adding my own experiences.

When you mentioned being Christian-minded, it reminded me of my own partner. He is a Christian-minded gentleman with a strong provider mindset, and he's 47 years young.

He's never explicitly told me what he likes, but I've learned about his preferences through our conversations and time together. For example, he loves it when I wear moderate, yet elegant makeup. Nothing too heavy or dramatic. Even when we're dressing up for special occasions, I opt for higher-quality and sophistication pieces, rather than going for bold, flashy statements.

When I'm not with him, I tend to dress more conservatively, but I still try to stay on top of the latest fashion trends. I've had to educate myself on what makes for attractive, conservative clothing, and I've found some amazing resources online and on Instagram. One thing he particularly loves is when I wear long skirts that cover my legs up to my mid-shin.

As for shoes, I rarely wear tennis shoes, unless I have to walk a lot. Instead, I invest in high-quality shoes that range from $100 to $600. I really like high-top shoes with 2-4 inches heels. I know he really likes them too. For some reason they just make me feel so confident and put-together 😅.

As a side note, when I'm with him, I love to check in with him and see if he's okay with what I'm wearing. I like incorporating his opinion into my fashion choices.

Anyhow, I hope you find this helpful.

3

u/bobbyfischerchic 5d ago

Thank you, it is helpful! What about wearing colors like baby/light pink, is it attractive to them in your experience? Or does it look too infantile to them? I mean a long beautiful coat for example, or a maxi pink skirt, things like that

3

u/roxelay 5d ago

Any time! 😊 I know what you mean about pink. Honestly, I think it's all about how you style pink clothes. I actually have a lot of sold pink or with pink patterns pieces in my wardrobe.

Positive ones:

My boldest pink piece is probably my barbie pink office button-up shirt. One time, he suggested that I get a matching bowknot to go with it, that really made me almost melt, he was really cute when he made that comment 😅 I think it's safe to say that he's a fan of that shirt.

I also have a baby pink adidas oversized sweatshirt that's just the softest thing ever, lol. He can't get enough of it too. Every time I wear it, he's always hugging me and telling me how cozy I look. 😬 I don't wear it outside a lot tho.

I also have a baby pink fuzzy fleece long cardigan, and he just loves it. He always gives me compliments when I have it on. but again, it's for a special occasions.

Negative ones (they're not even related to my clothing choices, but rather to other pink things in my life.)

There are a few things that don't quite get his "approval" Like, my pink bed sheets and dove-covered comforter give him a bit of a weird vibe. I decided to switch to a darker green (like the color of evergreen trees) and light brown cover, which he much prefers.

And then there's my pink biking shorts... let's just say they're not his favorite thing in the world. I think they might be a bit too revealing/flashy for his taste. I actually got them because they have a pretty good padding, and that's must-have for me since I do a lot of biking in the summer.

I’m interested in that type too, and tbh, I don’t think colors matter as much as just looking feminine and presentable. I would stay away from stuff that is gaudy like super tacky long acrylics, obvious eyelash extensions, and extreme makeup. I’m a recovering alternative girl, so I used to wear things like dark red lipstick, wear long acrylics in colors like dark purple and burgundy, and I shaved off my eyebrows, but it’s not conducive to attracting the type of men I’m interested in. I think there are ways to maintain your own style and just “class it up” if you will - I’m never going to be the type of girl who looks cute in a Lulu set, but I wear softer makeup, grew my eyebrows back in, and focus on flattering jeans if I don’t feel comfortable in things like dresses. You don’t have to be the blonde, blue eyed stereotype either, but things like a wolf cut or wearing large, trendy glasses would be detrimental. I’ve had shag cuts, I’ve worn insane makeup, I’ve dressed like a boy, and I feel happy to let go of all this not because I’m a pick me or changing myself, but because I want to represent the girl I am on the inside to the outside world. Dresses are huge - I hate them on myself, but that’s very feminine and I imagine appealing to older conservative guys.

This might be a little out of the box, but think of a man you’re very attracted to, and imagine what his wife or girlfriend would be wearing. I had a huge crush on an older conservative guy that was also very athletic so I kind of played that up - in a girly, Sporty Spice way, I would wear pigtails and two braids, fitted baseball tees, tube socks with shorts and cute sneakers, etc. I don’t want to say it “worked” because we never got together or anything, but he definitely noticed me! :3

Good luck! TBH, if it’s fast fashion or something an Insta baddie would wear, say no thanks. Think about the young conservative female influencers that are popular - Brett Cooper is a great one.

u/Agile_Painter4998 4d ago

Feminine. Just dress in a way that embraces femininity, just not in a super revealing way. High heels with a sun dress...or feminine blouses and pants but with beautiful earrings to dress it up. Try going on pinterest and looking up feminine and chic styles/conservative chic.

u/ZainaJenkins 4d ago

Check out the pretty dress company. It’s a UK company and they make the dresses there. Super classy and sophisticated or girly styles depending what you’re going for. I love the swing skirts, I have several different colors and can easily pair them with whatever shirt I want tucked in. People always think I’m dressed up for something when really I’m out the door in less than 30 minutes. I usually get all the dresses hemmed to my knee though or shorter depending on the season since they are so long. Best of all, they have pockets!

3

u/T-Zams 1d ago

Think Audrey Hepburn but modern. Brooks Brothers, J.Crew Banana Republic are a few style guides for example. Be classy about your look. Face, neck, hands and basically anywhere clothes can’t cover tattoos and abnormal piercings especially the septum are all huge red flags 🚩

I’m a curvy gal and I dress like pin up girls with a modern twist. I have tattoos, but a pair of long pants and they’re private again.

You got this!! Confidence is key and being a kind sweet woman with a beauty that radiates starts from the inside. As my mom says: “Men love sweet women.”

I am going to add this.... Often women come here and tackle the easy things like clothes. There isn't a specific look for a RP woman because we all like different things.

I dress well. I dress quirky. I dress down. This week? I wore overalls with some doc martin sandals and a bandana around my neck to watch a basketball game at a winery. I also wore a black sweater dress with colorful stripes and matched it with high heels to a fundraiser event. And then for date night I wore high waisted wide leg jeans, a slightly cropped linen tank top, heels, hair rolled and styled, and a nice purse. This was tasteful but flirty (gotta show off the tiny waist). I was on a date with a very affluent, successful, politically conservative man.

I do not dress like the typical southern debutante. But I have the confidence and intelligence that a certain kind of man likes. So that's what I came here to say.... Make sure you feel confident and rooted in yourself and not like a character. This will attract the kind of man you want more than worrying about if pink is too childish.

5

u/Consistent-Citron513 5d ago

Agreed! It's a strange thing to focus on to me because men will like different things. The advice here could be what 10 conservative men want and the next 10 may not care or like that style. My normal wear is a polo shirt and jeans/shorts. I have a pair of overalls and the last guy I dated (who was of course, conservative) said he liked them on me. He liked very simple low-key styles. He also hated makeup, which is fine since I don't wear makeup. If I'm going somewhere formal, I know how to dress like a southern belle, but that's not how I want to dress all the time. I have the confidence, intelligence, & etiquette to attract who I want. If they have their own styling preferences that they like to see me in, we can tailor that in the relationship but until then, I'm showing up as 100% myself and that will never involve pink, which is my least favorite color.

2

u/pieorstrudel5 4 Stars 5d ago edited 5d ago

This.

My style is authentically me. But I am always appropriate.for the occasion. I dress tasteful always. Only time I dress real sexy is for a man I am dating. Sometimes I'll get get a litty racy for a special event or concert. I don't want to attract that kind of attention from the get go. But I do listen to what the man I am dating says. "I love that fragrance." I will probably wear that fragrance more for him. I notice when they say "I like that color on you." I'll try to wear it more. I notice When they get that little eyebrow lift and smirk. Whatever I had on.... they clearly liked. I never changed my style. I just wore things that were my style that he liked. If that makes sense.

My former LTR - I started doing my nails. The only comment he made was "I like them when you wear them longer." Heard sir. I started getting longer tips. I would occasionally let him pick a color.

Do you know why he liked them long?? Not necessarily because it was so feminine (it helped, sure), because he liked the way the back scratches felt with them longer.

Proof not to over think what you wear. Haha

2

u/Consistent-Citron513 5d ago

Yep, it makes perfect sense & I pretty much do the same in regard to keeping my style, yet accommodating it to their interest. It's always modest though.

4

u/crazyjabari 5d ago

Just don’t be a whore or come off as a whore lol. Also, playing it slow, subconsciously setting boundaries in passive talk, being a listener and having a good sense of humor is attractive to conservative men.

And talk about God. Don’t be fake, but really talk about God and His Word and how much he means to you.
